Adventures in PTE/TTE

FWIW, and it's not a good excuse, I didn't wear my firesuit Sunday b/c it was making me and everyone around me miserable. After a 3 hour stint with no cool suit in July at Barber our car broke, I threw it in its bag, and then forgot about it so it smelled like deeeaaattthhhh.
On a lighter note, official results are out. 3rd place in TTE would have been national champion in D. Hah.

We have six registered for TTE this weekend at Roebling Road. Five miatas and a lonely e30.
We're missing a good chunk of our regular Southeast TTE crew...bunch of lame-o's.
I've literally not touched my car since Marcus stuck it into a tire wall in June. Thankfully he fixed most of the damage and delivered it back to me. I have two short evenings to do some semblance of event prep.
I've never been to Roebling but I'm hoping I can learn the track quickly and steal away Flier129's track record on Sunday with fresh R7s. It'll be the last ever TTE event at Roebling so I would have the track record for...ETERNITY. muahahahaha

I got that TTE perma-record for Barber, even though it was weak!
IIRC the 1:22.2 was on fresh R7s, so about 4 HC when the time was set. I actually only turned a 1:22.5 at ~130rwhp, 700/400 in 2016. It was the wheel-man Cathers that turned the official 1:22.2xx and managed a 1:21.7xx in the Sunday morning golden session BUT had a 4-off :sadtrombone:
I think high 1:20s is possible in my car now with the right conditions. Roebling drives WAY better than it looks on video. It seems like an easy track to pick up big chunks, but takes some time to chisel away at the 1/10ths. Then you have aliens that get there first time there...... Luke could very well take the record!

That's a pretty sweet pic!
I'm heading to NCM this weekend in attempts to grab the TTE record there. It's a 2:22-something with a PTE record of 2:19-something. So I know my car can get it done, but let's see if I can get there. Fingers crossed for decent enough weather, rain is possible all weekend.

Well, no record at NCM for me. Record for TTE is a 2:22.2xx, I only managed a 2.23.5xx. Maybe I could have snatched it if I did NCM before. It's a fairly technical track so a tad harder to pick up. Still won TTE for the weekend, 5-7 in class too so that's cool. Track is a lot of fun too.
Obvious time on the table:
2:20s in my car for sure. PTE/TTE coulda gotten into the high 2:18s maybe. We'll see how ST6/TT6 goes next year there!

That it's easier for a racer to build a competitive car despite potentially being ah, "challenged" to read and interpret rules well bodes well for the future health of ST.
PT was a morass of teams that could interpret rules better than others against teams that simply punched the easy button; showed up, got their asses handed to them and never came back.

I like the ST rules myself, but then again, my NA8 could never be properly built to the limits of TTE and still had stock sways, gross. ST ruleset is easy and produced a more fun car that's just as fast (daily driver that's outpacing NASA SM). As much bitching as people do about the a-arm hit I have yet to see it manifest on track in 6. Until it does I'm not much worried about it.
