I blame everyone equally.
Yeah, it's Andrew. My limits are 2370lb and 142whp. I'm 8lb over and 1hp under. I won't have a set of SM6 until November or September when I get another set of 6ULs. I have room to run a 225 A6, but don't have the dollars and may not have job after May. I may try the Conti take-offs if that happens but for now they are junk rubber.
I'm going to TWS in TTD for fun on 2-year old, power-cycled NT-01s, just for the pleasure of driving. I should still get under the SM record, just won't destroy it. It's hard to believe a TTD car is this fast.

The weight NASA added to the MSM is right there in the current rule book. Any of the guys who have a real chance at Miller in a Miata this year already understand this stuff. The new guys that haven't figured out the intricacies of PT rules yet and thus won't be as competitive as the guys that have, can still use a little help.

(back from the dead some) Anyone know anything about 2014 rules?
I sent Greg an e-mail recently about a few items and his response is worrying to some extent. There is a number of items I thought are backdateable, but he is saying they are not:
1) intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds are not backdated without approval (and in this case they rarely are).
2) engines cannot be backdated/updated without a dyno reclass (this is to clarify a statement made earlier). So you cannot run an 01+ long block in a 99 WITHOUT dyno reclassing...
3) the BTM rule on exhaust piping is basically to keep the stock pipes. Its not explicitly stated, but its kind implied that [example] if i go out and have an exhaust guy recreate the stock pipes then put in the stock muffler and resonator, then +2 for exhaust modification would still apply. That seems not in the spirit of the BTM rules...
4) The accepted "removal" of a stock cat is to gut it and keep the stock pipe intact or you will incur the exhaust points as well.
5) changes in 2014 rules will disallow backdating sport brakes to a 99/00 miata. No details given on how that will happen. This isn't too big I don't think for the regular TTE/PTE guys, but it maybe more of an issue for endurance.

Wow that kinda sucks. I have approval on the exhaust manifold from a few years ago so hopefully it still works. Sucks about the brakes too although I have an email about those too.
I'm not planning to run much PT anymore anyway but don't want to change a bunch of stuff should I decide to race with NASA.

Oops, I have a set of '03 calipers and brackets and a master, booster and prop valve sitting in the garage ready to put on my TTE '99; AND I don't have 3 points to spare.
Less than 5 weeks until our first TX event, in the past how early have the rules been finalized for the next year?

I think brakes are +2 btw.
