Welding a plate to your suspension pickup would increase the stiffness of the subframe akin to a subframe brace. That is a performance advantage, however small it may be, which the rule clearly states is not allowed (without taking points). I don't see how you can argue it's not a performance advantage. I'm awaiting clarification from Greg.

Also, any modification that increase MTBF is a performance enhancement.

New rules posted.
Under no-points modifications

13) Reinforcement of suspension mounting locations on OEM frame rails, Sub-frames/suspension cross-members, and unibody is permitted provided there is no performance benefit or relocation of the mounting points.

It only took four days, but I'm BP4Dubya'd up. Headed to the dyno tomorrow to try and dial in 136whp, motor feels nice and strong so hopefully that's easy enough. Need to hookup and configure VICS tonight. Then spring rate change back to 1000lbs up front and OEM sways and also need to throw the FM oil cooler in and make sure it's ducted well enough to do its job. Nothing like procrastinating until the week before season opener.

I should have read Hoosiers contingency before ordering SM7's, not eligible in NASA. Augh. Should have got rid of ELBJ's for the LCA offsets and gone R7. Team poor decisions over here.

That's new, and a big deal.

Hoosier Tire | Contingency Awards Program

Hm, maybe I bought them before contingency was updated, either way I'm out of luck. We have 10 signed up for TTE, so didn't even have to win to get free tires

This started at some point last year. What I heard from a few local guys was that you could win on SM7s and qualify for contingency, but then Hoosier would not give you free SM7s... you could only get R7 for free. I was told it was caused by SM7 inventory getting low at one point, and somebody at SCCA didn't like the fact that NASA guys were using up the limited supply of a spec tire that was created specifically for SCCA.

Someone definitely needs to clarify whether 2018 will be the same as 2017, or if you can no longer claim R7 after winning on SM7.

I tried to claim SM7s last year too and Jeff Speer told me this:
"We can only pay out the R7 tire model in the NASA Award Contingency Program and wanted to confirm this with you before we processed the order.

Please let us know if this is good with you. I see we had sent some R7 tires on the last order in June."

Ruined my dreams as well.

As much as I want to get bent out of shape about this situation, the tire was meant to be a subsidized class specific item for SCCA Spec Miata. We were able to piggyback on this for years. It was good while it lasted. I too was not given SM7s for contingency payout as far back as three years ago; they sent me R7s.

Didn't have time to dial in tune before going to dyno and it shows, but still expected a bit more than this. Running rich appears to be REALLY choking down the power. I actually leaned it out slightly before making the three verification runs and picked up an insta 2whp, so I'm guessing I need to push it up closer to 13.0. Also need to fix/replace the vacuum nipple on the VICS switch. Tried to rig it up for the dyno sesh, but it wasn't closing the butterflies, so zero torques. Less than my BP05 made, lol. I know it's actually working though b/c I can hear the vacuum leak if I tell it to close the butterflies, so at least I can follow directions on how to use EBC output for VICS, yay!

Current is 127whp. BP05 was 124whp.

Going to have to live with it for MSRH, then figure out how to uncork this thing.

Welp, just wasn't meant to be this weekend. After a long week of prep, barely finishing up at 7:30 Friday night before rolling out, wet all day Saturday, being sick, and my first real hoosier session resulting in a valve stem popping out on first lap of Sunday session 3 leaving me with only one session to throw down I just couldn't get it done. That plus being down horsepower, right rear shock is blown, dialing in too much damping (I think), likely running too much tire pressure, and lack of track familiarity there was no way I was getting anywhere near my friends blazing 1:48.4. Still, I guess I should be happy with a 1:49.6 as that's faster than the fastest SM lap of the weekend and the Texas SM guys ain't no joke.

Just keep at it, things don't always fall into place for us 1-guy-shows. I never expect to win or even do that well do a newer track. It also will take a bit for you to get use to the grip of the Hoosiers and it's other characteristics vs the super200s.

MSR Houston looks like a lot of fun actually! T1 looks bumpy as **** and/or your car doesn't like it, lol.

Man don't get down on yourself that 1:49.6 is only .13 off the previous TTE track record, impressive by itself but especially with all the recent changes to your car. Tony's 1:48.4 is nuts. I was lucky to have him in my car during the last session and he gave me some great tips. I've got a long way to go to catch up to you guys, hoping to start TT in 2019.

You going to be at Cresson? I need to swing by and say hi, meet some of the miata TT guys, and get some tips.

Yeah, is what it is. First things first I want to find my power or am I mistaken thinking an OEM BP4W should make ~135whp (DIY intake, RB header, RB cat-back, maybe enthuza cat is choking things up)? Can always throw the ole BP5A cam at it. Learning the tire will come in time, that's what really killed me this weekend. I don't need a whole lot of time to figure out and get comfortable with my line, especially somewhere I've been before, but definitely more than one session.

MSR Houston CCW is definitely good fun, CW I don't find as fun, but it's hard to complain when we have such good track selection in Texas.

I'll be at Cresson. Didn't you drop by with Tony after your last session, red nb right? I was in the group over there, but we'll do proper introduction next time. My car is the white NA with bronze 6UL's.

Ah ya that was me, sorry, lots of new faces and names, and I was still flying high from the last session and processing all the feedback. I'll say hi at Cresson and steal all your go fast secrets.

As usual, all dyno's read different BUT my unopened BP4W with DPtune reflashed ecu(more timing and 300 more rpm), DIY intake, RB header, crush-bent 2.25" exhaust w/ muffler put down this:

So I agree, I think there's some power left on the table for your engine/mods especially since you run a MS, correct?

The biggest difference I notice between RS3s and R7s, braking distance.

.
MS3 Basic.

Just seems a half point compression and better flowing head should pick up more than 2-3whp. Now that I have VICS working I'm going to work on dialing in the street tune like I did on BP05, then hop back on the dyno. Might just go ahead and throw the BP5A cam at it, b/c why the hell not. If I go over I can always just flatten it out.
