5 degrees of caster on a depowered rack
#22
A trip to the hardware store. 1 large washer with 7/8" id and two small washes with 7/8" OD adding up to the same thickness as the large washer. 7/8" is the OD of the pin through the center of the bushing. This is used to shift the upper A-arm forward along the big bolt. Just over 1/8” thick results in ~1degree caster change per washer. Works if you have urethane or delrin bushings. Adjusting caster this way makes the adjustment independent of toe and camber, And can be done quickly even in the paddock DIY without alignment equipment.
I’m likening 5 degrees best. Great feedback and im not that wimpiy. I like to be able to feel the path the tires want to go so I can feel how much I’m asking of them with my steering inputs. 6 required a bit too much force for my taste.
