turbo kits
I gotta newb question. Has any one bought an eBay turbo kit and made decent hp? Like 300 hp or close? If so how reliable is it before I have to start changing out parts for quality parts? And I mean with pretty good engine management. I been lookin on eBay for a pretty complete kit but I don't wanna buy one if it ain't gonna last a while with a good tune. I have a pretty good built motor but I'm not gonna swap it in till I have everything to get it running good! Lemme know!

Most of the users here run the bone stock ebay kits without any part swapping. Those kits really are a great deal. With the number of kits those guys are selling to the miata community, it's a wonder they haven't increased prices.
Jeff is one of the few that don't run the ebay kit. He pretty much bashes them every chance he gets and tries to push noobs toward his favorite kit, the FFS coldside kit.

That's the ilovetacotaco kit from ebay. The pics on ebay don't look like that because they are generic pictures. Jeff's picture is the actual kit. I went with the FM kit but it doesn't make the power I want....so I'll be upgrading to the ilovetacotaco kit when I get my tax return next year.

I really hope you arent taking these guys seriously. Ill help you cause I see you are from CT and we need more turbo miatas.
DONT even look at any ebay "kits". Hell, most of the people on this forum dont even have "kits" . We usually piece together our turbo projects.
Do your research, learn your car, and PLEASE stop taking everything people say on this forum as truth. They love ******* with people like you who actually are stupid enough to ask this question.

Thanks lol! Well right now I have $1500 to play with, I just want a 300whp setup comfortably! I'm all alone out here, all of my friends are Honda and Nissan lovers and they all help eachother out and make fun of me cuz I chose to.do a miata. I like civics and sentras but I see them too much so I decided to be different so if I knew someone with a miata it would help out!

Now that the cat's out of the bag, you shoudl really search a bit. This forum has some great sticky's that will educate you on what to look for in a kit or diy turbo project. 300hp as a goal is a bit lofty, especially for $1500. Talk to some locals and maybe get some rides in 150, 200, 250 hp miatas so you can better hone your goals.
