You are going to adapt the Infinity ECU for Miatas?? I was waiting for the lower cylinder versions to come out for decent prices and now they are. $1500. I am very interested in that.

I have been waiting since you announced this. I had 7k sitting in an account for six months after you first said "soon." I got frustrated and bought a house. I will have zero debt by the end of the summer and ready for all of this. Do not disappoint me again. ;)

I quizzed them pretty hard on exactly how their TC works vs. RL's system. The only thing AEM is missing (right now) is the ability to allow more slip in a straight line vs. mid-corner. The AEM does things that the RL box won't do, like allow more slip in lower gears. I don't know if the RL box allows for different tooth counts front/rear (i.e. MR2 front hubs, OEM rear hubs), but the AEM allows this.

I have good reasons for stretching the R&D timeline. The manifold has changed substantially from when this thread was started, so naturally the time to market has changed as well. The manifold we release at the end of the day will be an excellent all-round part for everything from smog-legal 225whp 6258 setups all the way up to built motor flex-fuel setups.

I spent a few days last week at AEM in Hawthorne getting some hands-on time with their new Infinity EMS. The high-end EMS setup we'll release for the full kit may or may not have real motorsport-level traction control. Sounds awesome! Also sounds like a little feature creep at the same time. The question when still looms large. For 2014 I just went to a BNR turbo to drop in the same location as an intermediary while waiting. Engine build 2014 off-season and hopefully product will be ready and sorted for 2015 season at this point. Or at least my plans are hopeful for this scenario. |
OMG PLZ BE CARB LEGAL AND THEN TAKE MY MONEIES!!!!!!! =D
But in all seriousness though the fact you guys are going though all that trouble of getting carb approved and the kit isnt gonna cost an arm and a leg count me (and most likely everyone in CA) in! |
Wonder how many people are looking at this vs. the K-Swap for their track cars.

I'm waiting for the track speed engineering Miata k series swap and efr turbo kit.
|
3 to 4 k + 5k for a built engine that can output the power that a stock k24 can handle. The k24 turns the Miata into a 10x more potent platform. I was gung-ho for a EFR setup 6 months ago. But the k24 is the route I have decided to go.

A question for those of you waiting with baited breath:
Would you pay a substantial amount of money for a prettier, investment cast part over a less pretty (but still attractive) sand cast part? How much extra money would you spend for the prettier part, assuming the function of the two parts is substantially identical? |
$0
|
I would pay more if it had a dick on it, though.

I am in the "functional is all I need" camp, so I wouldn't be willing to pay more than $25 extra for a smoother finish. Keith |
