Spiking Causing Detonation?
Well, I did a search but didnt exactly find what I was looking for.
And just so you guys know, This time of night, all i can think of is my car....So if you notice all my postings are at night Hahahaha.
But anywayas.
When I first got my car back, I was hoping to boost around ten.
That didnt happen because of spiking. It would spike a little over ten and detonate.
Is it because of I dont have the colder plugs?
I know it cant be a fuel issue, I mean, Look at my set up in the sig, I should be running alot more rich then I need to be.
When I get the money for the colder plugs im gonna see if I can mess with the boost a little and try to get a consistant 10ish without too much spiking.
Right now it spikes at about 8 and settles at about 7. Thats where its been for sometime now.
Thanks

Boost control is directly related to the turbo itself, the wastegate, the exhaust pre-turbo (which is difficult to modify), the exhaust post-turbo (which can be easily modified) And to a lesser extent, the intake system. It has almost nothing to do with your fuel or ignition system. The best way to get rock solid boost with no creep or overboost is to have an external wastegate and a good electronic boost control system and anything less is a comprimise. Anyway, enough of my theoritical b.s. ... Ill let the other people on this forum fill in how to get what you want in the real world because honestly I do not know.

Lol.
Well I mean. Im fine with spiking to like 13 and staying at 10, but just wasnt sure why it was detonating when it would spike a little over ten. after reading what you just said, im guessing that even after the plugs, it might do the same thing. or does my IC maybe suck really bad like someone said before probably. Im just gonna have to wait and see then I guess.
Im not worried about the spiking, but was wondeirng what the Detonation was probably caused by

your spikes to 13psi cause detonation because you are not properly tuned for that level of boost. Bigger injectors might help but IMHO anything over 10 psi its best to get a pretty specific timing device, be it MS, AEM, Link, or anything that lets you put a specific degree in.

That extra megasquirt I have is almost ready for use, but I thought you were gonna sell your car so i didnt bother to finish modifying and testing it. I am also not about to let it go ready to go w/ a pnp harness for any less than $300 anyway and I thought you were broke

Wait.
You have the PnP harness?
300 is fine with me.
help me install and intake temp sensor and what not Ill come to you this time.
I just got an insurace check.
Its gonna take til the 27th they said to clear..Which is the hold up on the spark plugs and such.
Which is bs, AAA insurnace money is garunteed money, its not like some guy wrote me a check for 15k.
And as far as selling the car goes, Im positive if I get it squirting ill keep it.
What I would like to do really is sell my car stock and buy a different one with better body on it, and just swap everything. That is probably the Route Im gonna go. So dont stop building I want it for sure. I mean, im sure I can swap back ecu's when i do sell it.
Know what I mean
man, you need to get aim.
