When i had my gti, i thought about doing this, since the dipstick went straight into a rubber fitting on the side of the pan.
Might have to see if i can figure something out for the miata this weekend... could cut the dipstick tube, flare it, and put a brass T in there... but would it be able to flow enough oil?

use a spring on the dipstick end to keep it in place and sealed

talk about over engineering, a small piece of 5/16 fuel line and two spiral clamps will hold it in place.
as far as the tube being used for the return....
if this is your oil flow at idle with an restrictor on a -3an line:
there's no chance in hell I'd do that.
