Newbie trying to go turbo questions
Hey there, thanks for taking the time to view this post. I have a 1991 Miata project and would like to go turbo. Every bit of work done to my car has been done exclusively by me so I am not new to wrenching but 100% new to turbocharging. My end goal is ~200-230 reliable whp and to not blow up the motor in the process. I've been doing some reading and put together this parts list. I understand this could be done much cheaper (I am budgeting 7 grand) and I would like to hear any input you have for me. I simply trust FM very much and would gladly sacrifice cost for power and reliability. Ebay is a no go as is the terribly unreliable MKTurbo and CXRacing kits. I understand I will get many things wrong and appreciate any criticism, comments, and help you have for me. I have some questions down below the parts list. I have been watching plenty of videos on YT and this all looks like a ton of work but I have another car I can use and it sounds like a fun project with a fun car to drive after I'm done. Car will NOT be daily driven after the turbo is installed. I also understand that hundreds of noobs before me have asked the same questions and I apologize for any frustration due to my very little knowledge about this.
FM Coolant reroute, FM stage 1 clutch+ flywheel combo, FM 1.6 turbo kit with their manual boost controller and atmosphere blow off, AEM wideband, Megasquirt 2 pnp, IAT sensor
What injectors and fuel pump should I get?
What spark hardware will I need?
What else do I need that I am not aware of?
Where does the IAT sensor go? (FM kit has silicone plumbing so can't put it there)
What kind of huge problems will I get myself into that I am blissfully unaware of?
I would greatly appreciate your help
Cheers
