my friend's miata, please help. Begi
okay, for some reason when we finished installing the begi s 3 on my friend's miata. some things weren't quite right. when we open the wastegate it gets stuck on the down pipe as much as we move it. its still getting stuck. the other is that the wastegate isnt' opening. we took the car to a local smog shop to get it smoke test . no leaks. what can be the issue? i'm pretty sure everything is hook up right. i have a begi miata myself and everything is hook up the same way.

The fitment of the flapper valve inside the DP is very tight. You need to loosen all the nuts holding the DP to the turbine housing... there will be some play, just wiggle the DP around until the flapper door moves freely and then tighten the nuts.
FYI, revving the engine on a small T25 will produce a few psi if you stomp it and rev it all the way up. It'll probably make 2psi but won't be enough to move the wastegate arm, so what you attempted in the video is useless.
If all your clamps are tight on the charge-pipe, you should be able to disconnect the wastegate arm, go for a drive, and still make 2-3psi at WOT in 3rd/4th... might not get any boost in the low gears cause of the limited load on the engine... so try that.
Next experiment is to connect the arm but remove the vaccum line to the can. Go for a drive... just give it about 1/2 throttle in 3nd, lift by 4k rpm... should make boost if there are no leaks.
Some good pics of everything might help us spot an obvious problem... make sure you get various angles of the turbo side, all the charge piping, and the regulator.

jealous?????
ROFL.
and fwiw at :48 i can see the actuator rod pop off the wastegate.
which probably means.
with some load....
you might make some boost....
after putting the rod back on, of course
