Default MK turbo wastegate question/concern

So I got my car running great, with my MSPNP2. I got into the boost a little bit a few times, enjoying all the new sounds. I was watching the boost gauge and AFR religiously. I got a little (over)confident and gave it a nice pull in 3rd and the boost kept going (got damn near 12-14psi).

Is there a chance this turbo does not have an 8psi actuator?? Or did I mess something up when I clocked the turbo and cut the vacuum hose a little shorter. I am running no boost control at the moment because I am under the impression that will only help me achieve higher boost above 8psi.

Did you port the wastegate? The wastegate hole needs to be opened up. Nigelt has good pictures towards the end of my group buy thread with how to do it.

I pulled mine to port the first time, I didn't go liberal enough with the dremel, so really open that sucker up, especially the hole itself

Thanks, we'll be going at it on Wednesday. Can't wait to get back to tuning!
