I am Wanting to Install a turbo on my 1992 Miata I Need Help
I am going to install a turbo on my 1992 1.6l miata. I need help on what turbo I should buy and what all I need. I was thinking maybe a begi kit with the china turbo, or a greddy kit, or a ebay kit. I dont know much about this I dont know whats good or bad or what I need. I was really wanting the begi kit with the china charger anyone done this? Do you need anything else like the megasquirt or a voodo box? Or can I just get this kit bolt it up and go. I am wanting to start out at 5 or 6 psi of boost and not go above 8psi. Do I need injectors and a fuel pump.

everything i have read so far on this forum suggests that people will only answer your questions if you have done your research first. look through the threads and search online for some of your questions and then post a thread. also u need to figure out what kind of horsepower you want to make.
(im a newb so not 100% sure) but you should be able to run stock injectors, and you will need some kind of piggyback system like the voodoo unless you want to destroy your engine, but there are a lot out there.
take the time to read through the threads and im sure most of your questions will be answered

What you need is a desire to learn. The answers to every single one of your questions are outlined in FAQs and posts that are easily accessible on this forum. We are not here to spoon-feed you the answers to your questions - if we were, we'd be getting paid.
Another member said it best - you are running a marathon, and we are the people holding the little cups of water on the sidelines. We are here to help in any way we can, but we are volunteers, and you need to run your own damn marathon.

But seriously.
I'd avoid any eBay kit like the plague. There may be one or two out there that are decent, but there are hundreds that are crap.
Greddy was a longtime favorite, and a lot of us had 'em. My turbo and manifold are still original out of my Greddy kit, but they're the only two pieces that are.
If that's your price range, then BEGI-Shanghai is a tempting choice. It comes with a good-quality manifold, downpipe, FPR, intake plumbing, etc., and a Chinese turbo. Which is ironic given that the Greddy kit comes with a shitty manifold, downpipe, FPR, intake plumbing, etc., but a very nice Mitsubishi turbo.
There's still some fear and suspicion surrounding Chinise-made turbos, and there have been some documented failures. But then, folks around here destroy Garrets from time to time as well.
If I were you, I'd save a few extra bucks and spring for a BEGI-S, with the GT2554. Get the downpipe upgrade while you're at it. This system will run out of the box at 5-6 PSI on the included AFPR, and yet it'll have great upgrade potential down the road when you toss on an intercooler, some better engine management, a big exhaust and a boost controller.
The Megasquirt is nice to have. No, it's actually awesome to have. It's also not absolutely necessary at lower boost levels. Beyond 6 PSI, yeah. You'll want the MS and some 440cc injectors. For now, you can get started without 'em.
Buy a wideband O2 sensor. Innovate LC-1 (plus display gauge), AEM UEGO, or JAW. It's possible to tune without them, but to me it's like driving with a blindfold on.

i have done a lot of research on the turbos. It seems some people like the greddy kit but most said it was a cheap kit and the turbo is good. Most people seems to love the begi kit with the garret turbo. I was considering the begi kit with the megasquirt. But i had heard about the kit with the chinacharger for alot less. I was just wanting some opinions from people who have put these systems on their cars. Thanks.

what is a sig for approx 165hp to the wheels? what should I use with my turbo? I have heard a lot of good things about the megasquirt but I have also seen like the voodo box that flyin' miata make. Are there any others that anyone has used and liked that aren't too high $$$
