I understand, Chris. Like I said, so far the one inspector I've taken the car to hasn't noticed, I just thought it was interesting. To be perfectly honest, the only reason I bought the Greddy kit (as opposed to building a fully DIY setup) was because of the CARB certification. At this point the manifold, turbo, downpipe gasket, sticker, and a piece of the heat-blanket are the only items from the original kit left under my hood, though I still put all the original parts back in every other year. ![](https://www.miataturbo.net/images/smilies/cool.gif)
That said, I really do appreciate the kit for what it is. A know a lot of folks who probably would not have entered into the world of forced induction were it not for the very low price and ultra-simple install on the Greddy kit. I can't think of any other combination of parts (headers, cams, intake, etc...) where $1300 buys you anywhere near the same HP gain. Even for those of us who have modified our systems beyond recognition it was still a great entry point.
Was the Miata package the first turbo kit that Greddy did?

I would imagine that there would be a lot more issues when your Greddied car is inspected by a state ref versus a tech at the run of the mill smog only station. The only problems I have ever had at smog only stations are tuning related and the only thing I have left that is stock is the snail.
