It will breathe better than the factory airbox. But you are drawing air from what I would think to be the hottest area under the hood. You are behind the radiator, and right next to the exhaust network. The IC helps, but the heat load on it will be increased. Hot air = less power.
I would move it up behind the headlight, or put together a cowl intake system, or route it into the nose somehow. Lots of examples here of CAI systems.

I got fresh new pics for everybody! The Manifold, Turbo, and Down Pipe has been mounted, and the oil feed line and drain line installed with finishing touches.
I used 5/16 fiber line for approximately 3 1/2 feet of the feed and then transferred to 18 inches of braided stainless steel oil feed line when I approached the exhaust manifold. This is an excellent compromise when it comes to price and rigidity. Since the fiber oil line is not even near the exhaust manifold and turbocharger, it should last much longer than a year.
As for the oil drain, I used 5/8's high pressure, high temp fiber line with thermal insulation similar to what flyin Miata uses.
This is going great, and I am so close to cranking it up
For pointers, using the 99-2000 downpipe with the MSM manifold, turbo, and outlet is completely compatible with the factory midpipe, So if someone is wanting a cheap sub 1,000 non-intercooled solution. This works perfect. It would be restrictive sure, but i'm sure you could break 140 rwhp at 7 psi.
