FM II Turbo System vs Trackspeed EFR Turbocharger System - Which one?
#41
I figured a long time ago that 270rwhp was plenty of power for an NA/NB for my needs AND it keeps it safely below the 300+ hp levels that break NB 6-speed gearboxes.
I've got an EFR6258 because it won't break a sweat at those power levels (ie. is reliable) , spools well and has plenty left if I ever want "MOAR POWA"

Up to ~400whp, for the same power and quality of build, IMO you're going to pay a ~20% cost premium to build an LS-powered car, and the LS car will always weigh 100-150lbs more than the turbo does.

When the teeth shear off is when you receive personal validation. Some People work to be validated their whole lives. You too can be validated.
Hmm I spent i guess $4k on motor which now needs leakdown test. $6k on piece of **** turbo kit. Then $5000 more on an all custom turbo kit. Oh and $3000 for an ems that brings joy to the communityin the form of suffering based entertainment. Hydra. Oh then uh $700 on trans and $1500 on diff and $1800 total on clutch and fuel system etcccc ncjdnadhjwoa
But i also literally don know what im doing and yes i think it can be done for $15k and i think its a total ******* waste of money and in the end only like 10% of ppl with built motors actually end up driving their stupid cars in the first place. 😭
You weren't being criticized for the words "heavy duty", you were being criticized for not actually knowing what "heavy duty transmission" you would use, and not having a clue what sort of money and work would have to go into it.
Re: clutch - You're clutch might be fine, but that won't matter when you are shearing teeth off your 6 speed.
You will likely never find a complete (turbo) kit that is designed for 450 whp. Get a V8 kit if you've got the money.

Oftentimes, in the long run, people would actually save money & also spend more time (enjoying) driving if they just paid us to build their car vs. trying to figure it out themselves. Learning curves can be quite expensive!
Comparing a 400hp LS to a comparable 400hp turbo build, even though the V8 is slightly heavier, it will dominate on track due to the torque on the bottom end & massively wide powerband. IME people say they want horsepower but what they really want is torque. I drive both on a weekly basis & I love them both for completely different reasons.
