You know, for all the hazing its been getting, when Corky puts it that way it actually sounds not bad. Now the question will come down to whether they can actually deliver the product, on time, and without issues.

Thank you Corky for commenting in this thread. Definitely cleared a few things up.

I am not sure if there will be room to fit the downpipe off an BW EFR with how the new manifold sits the turbos.

I moved all previous discussion of EFR vs Garrett here.

I just want my Damn S6. Good thing I listened to the warnings here about how long I would be waiting.

Would you be able to make kits that fit if you used that material? Just curious.

Well done Corky
AΩ looks great. +'s
I particularly like your manifold design.

I am curious what size the intercooler /charge piping is as It looks less than 2.5"?

I suspect a real engineering analysis of exhaust manifold materials will put ductile iron just about tops for high temp stability, high temp corrosion, cost, strength (mostly a design function) at high temp, easy of machining, and even low temp corrosion. Many materials can win one category by a large margin, but completely lose the race.

The V Band Clamp anchor for the turbo to manifold and turbo to dnpipe is available for the asking. It will also be built into the casting.

Tubes to the intercooler are 2.0 inches. IC to throttle are 2.25. In my view and experience, these sizes will carry enough air for 450/500 bhp without any significant loss. Take a look at the turbos lots bigger than a Miata can use, say 700+hp, and they still have 2.0 inch outlets. I see no advantage in using bigger tubes in this application.

Juggling the merits of an IC with respect to cost, effectiveness in heat removal, and restriction to air available to the radiator all came out to a core of 18" tubes, 3" thick, and 5.5 inched high. That is my recommendation for a 250 rwhp intercooler for street use and allowing a stock radiator. Crank it up to 9 inches high, replace the radiator and head for the track. In the 5.5 inch IC, we squeezed about 15% more internal flow area into the same height by simply putting internal air channels on the top and bottom of the core.

The number of custom changes will plummet. Too many problems down that path.

I thought your kit wasn't custom? Off the shelf and already ironed out for a 99? That's what they're advertising, right?

^ Agreed.

That said, this new manifold looks ok and if BEGI can get it's house in order I will be happy for them. More choice, more innovation = better for the Miata community.
