Default Used MSPNP2 with old tune 94'

Obviously a newb question but here we go:
I bought a used MSPNP2 for my 1994 1.8. The prior owner had it set for boost. I'm going to be running a wideband and MS with no boost for a while to learn to tune and whatnot.
So here's my question... For the initial tune, I think that all I need to do is power up the MS (key on) and after having downloaded the base tune for my car, start a new project and load the original base tune. By doing that the MS should be reset for my car/no boost right?

Yes, boost scaling is done in the tune, so base map equals map sensor scaling from the MSPNP2 base map. However, I believe the base map is setup for boost.

I remember that too.. EG base map allowing boost. I think that running the old tune would just mess up fuel maps etc because it was setup for larger injectors. But so yeah, starting a new project and loading a downloaded basemap is essentially just starting over right?

**edit*** It wouldn't mess up fuel maps. That's just stupid. I think it would just run way rich??

Yeah, just use the basemap. You don't even need to rescale for N/A, especially if you're going to boost in the future. The extra resolution isn't really needed.

Correct, fuel maps may change a bit with new injectors, but the bulk of it is in the Req. Fuel value and dead times.

Just for info, you'll have to tune everything anyway. Base maps are just to get the car running, they should not be assumed to give you a good and safe driving car.

Ok, so just reload the basemap I can get online and start again. That's what I figured if I'm interpreting what you're saying correctly.

Also... Where can one find an options port/26 pin plug? I cannot find one searching.... it's it just a generic from a computer store or? I know I will need it to pin my AEM wideband.

A tune that was made for a turbo car can run perfectly without a turbo, as you simply never hit the 100+ Kpa values in the tables.

For example, when I was upgrading my turbo, I removed the original Turbo then put the stock exhaust manifold on and drove the car for two months without the turbo setup with zero changes to the tune.

Interesting... Were you running a stock injector configuration at that point or had you already upgraded injectors as well?

I am running Flow force 640cc injectors.

car was all setup and tuned turbo car, with FF 640cc injectors, gt2560r turbo, aem WB, etc etc...

then i removed turbo/manifold/downpipe.

installed stock exhaust manifold/header, and drove it naturally aspirated for 2 month's until my EFR satup came in, without touching a single MS3 setting

in your case, you bought a ms2 from a different car, with different injectors etc... so his tune might not work for you.

but if you scale the maps to what ever injectors you are running, the whole map might be fairly close*

*assuming his tune wasnt **** to begin with.

or just load up base map and start from scratch.

I vote for loading up the stock basemap and starting fresh to learn what it is that you are doing as you make adjustments.

I agree with Andy. You never know what obscure setting has been changed that might cost you an engine or hours of frustration.

I agree as well! Anyone have input as to where to get an option port plug? Cannot seem to find one searching online/at DIY.

https://www.diyautotune.com/product/...gtail-harness/

It's a DB26 connector. You'll find it cheaper elsewhere, but it'd likely be a solder cup rather than this pigtail'ed crimp connector.
