getting started 93 Miata, normally aspirated
New (and very unsuccessful) tuner here. 1993 Miata 1.6L
Plugged in the PNP unit. Can start the car. Idles ok. Will rev up. First problems:
- normally-aspirated , headers, exhaust.
- GM IAT sensor
- Hyundai Kia / 0K247-18911 TPS
- AEM 30-0300 AFM gauge with Bosch sensor
Plugged in the PNP unit. Can start the car. Idles ok. Will rev up. First problems:
- MSPNP Won't read the TPS. Plugged in the Speeduino and it reads it just fine, but IIR, closed is 0 and WOT is ~100. The PNP doesn't even register. Won't auto-detect, but WOT is set high (like 1400). Setting it low (100) still doesn't register. Actually tested the TPS with a DVM and it appears to be working fine, and the Speeduino reads it fine.
- The AFM gauge on the TunerStudio gauge panel is flashing red with the needle bouncing everywhere. The display on the AEM head unit is reporting low 13's at idle.

More info - The car ran ok with stock ECU, airflow meter, and narrowband O2 sensor, just very anemic. I'm used to a 2011 Miata, but have had 4 of the NA series, and this was the lamest of the bunch - even ask my cousin to let me drive her 1993 that I used to own, much peppier than the one above. It's also the only one I've had with a full header (think it's a Racing Beat) and Flyin' Miata exhaust with high flow cat. From my experience with putting exhausts on motorcycles, I figured a good tune was in order.

Did you follow the instructions? Did you install the jumper for vTPS and verify the pinout?

Haven't tested this yet, but did set the jumper just now. Also learned that the O2 sensor needs to be wired up differently. Honestly, I haven't touched this car in about a year and don't recall how my O2 sensor was wired up. IIRC, I adapted the OEM harness, so that looks to need changing from how it's set up compared to the Speeduino I had in there before. (if in doubt, read the manual!!)
Thanks again. Really appreciate it.
