The miata platform is so good that it fared better at the timed event than 80% of the other much more expensive cars that were there. It was amusing to hear some remark "I don't think so." Of course their remarks did not need any response; just went out and drove the car to my satisfaction and the results were very good. Lars has developed a very good kit that is proving out. I'm just now working out a few kinks and this site and people have been of great help. Lars too has helped me with my very naive questions all throughout. Doing the work myself and learning by following the rest of you has made me more comfortable with my car. Once fully confident in the build and setup, I'll see how much better we can do in those time trials. My goal is not to belittle anyone, but just be satisfied that it is possible for someone who started six months ago with zero knowledge in this field can build something all by themselves and get a very decent result.

My 2500 mile review:
Pros:
Super easy install. Exhaust/down-pipe is very nice and fits great. Lars's exhaust tips are beautifully utilitarian. Perfect combination of quiet, lower pitch exhaust and ricey BOV noise (I am serious). Car took on daily driver duty 1 day after first start and has had 0 issues related to the kit so far. I need more projects where I just hand some guy in Virginia a small pile of money and then bolt a bunch of parts to my car 3 months later, and less where I try to make things in my tiny garage with a grinder and my MIG welder.
Cons:
I never got a sticker. I reported Lars to the Better Business Bureau.

I *think* my turbo failed today. There's not really any shaft play, but I need to remove it to investigate further. Ordered a new one already because I need it before next weekend. Hoping it was a fluke, as it was on the 4th autocross event with it...
Anyone know of a watercooled turbo that will drop into Lar's stuff?

Just wanted to put in a good word about Lars' customer service.
I got a kit from him almost 1 year ago this month. It took me a few months to get a few other things for the build ... intercooler, injectors, MS3x and find the time to start on the installation. I think it was October when I finally got started. I had many questions and Lars was very responsive and took time to answer them all. In November I broke the **** out of my wrist at the skatepark and have been out of commission until recently.
Last weekend I finished the install and loaded up a base tune to get the car started. It started right up, though it was running very rich. Had some issues with idle (would shoot up to 3k and stay for a while). During that time, I would hear the turbo making a scraping noise as it spooled down after I shut the car off. Took a closer look and there was considerable shaft play (not the good kind lol).
I contacted Lars and sent him a video and pictures ... he said he will take care of it. Now .. it's been about a year since I bought it ... so I was very happy to hear that!
Yesterday he dropped-off a new turbo along with a set of gaskets. At his expense.
Being a small business owner myself, I know that things can go wrong now and then. What sets you apart is how you respond to issues and problems. Have we always made everyone happy? No .. but we make every effort to fix a problem and that is one of the reasons we have stayed in business.
Cats awarded for how Lars handled this issue! I have and still would recommend MKTurbo to anyone looking to get a decent kit together at a good price.

Seems to be leaking oil from here. Before this the drain line below was leaking right where the ntp fitting screws into the turbo. I took it out and reinstalled making sure it was as straight as possible to the oil pan. Then after that I reinstalled with some thread tape just to make sure. Hasn't leaked there again. Couple of weeks later and it's now leaking from here.
What do you guys think? Failing gasket? Failing turbo? Or failing me?
P.S. the oil restrictor is installed

Paging: @shuiend!
Lars, been trying to get in touch with you. You said you'd send the air filter that was meant to be included in the full MKTurbo kit I purchased back in August 2017. I've reached out via email a few times but never heard anything back. Can you give me a ping and can we set something up? Been almost a full year bud. I just want my car to go choo-choo.
Thanks,
Dylan

Haha not quite, it wasn’t the factor that was holding me up. Lack of time and money (specifically for a replacement clutch) has kept me from doing the job, but I’m finally ready. Oh and my car is a 1994, which in Atlanta Georgia no longer requires emissions (25 years old), which was another factor that caused me to wait.
Just been trying to get in touch with Lars for a few months about the air filter. I get what other people say about his good customer service but I feel like he’s ghosted me at this point.

Quick update:
Lars got in touch and he’s sending over an air filter, and it seems the original one got lost in the mail somewhere. Great guy!
also, for cpierr03 and Junkythecat, and anyone else who may need to get in touch with Lars, I may have a peak behind the curtain for you. He mentioned that he usually archives email threads once they’re closed out, so the easiest way to get back to the top of his inbox is to send him a new email, not part of an existing chain. So hopefully that’s useful to know.
thanks for reaching out Lars! Can’t wait to start blasting!

Thanks for the update. Nice to see the issue handled properly. One question... I just installed an OE replacement Exedy clutch on my 2004LS. The car is a commuter/weekend fun toy, and I do keep the hooning to a minimum. If I were looking to install this setup, how soon will I be looking at doing another clutch job?
