Not always true. It depends on placement of the IC more then anything else. My tester so far in Florida had issues with a rectangle one because it blocked far more of the mouth of the bumper then the square one. While the square one blocks more higher up parts of the radiator, it allows air to flow around the sides much more freely to get to the radiator.

Yeah I actually think the 18x12 is better for radiator cooling in that regard, like shuiend says I have a 28x7" and it pretty much is sealed to the mouth of my bumper opening all the way around. Any air going to the rad has to go through the IC first. I guess that's good for IC performance bad for everything else.

I used to run an 18x11 and ran 12's with it. Without proper ducting, and my air filter sucking hot air right behind the radiator, I think I had about a 50°F increase at the end of the 1/4 mile. My coolant temps would decrease a few degrees at the end of the 1/4 mile, plenty of air gets around the sides.

MKTurbo standard:
Compressor Wheel diameter: 43.20 / 60mm
Turbine Wheel diameter: 45.74 / 62.86mm
...
"Medium" T3
Compressor Wheel diameter: 48.50 / 64.00mm
Turbine Wheel diameter: 48.90 / 58.50mm

Turbine Wheel diameter: 48.90 / 58.50mm
Compressor Wheel diameter: 43.20 / 60.45mm
Turbine Wheel diameter: 45.5 / 62.00mm
Do those specs look familiar? They are the specs listed on the MKTurbo website for the standard T3.
I measured my standard MKTurbo T3 and got these specs:
Compressor Wheel diameter: 41.70 / 60mm
Turbine Wheel diameter: 45.74 / 63.5mm

Firstly, nobody order the Medium T3 I posted above from that vendor. I received a turbo from them but the specs are way off:
Compressor Wheel diameter: 43.20 / 60.45mm
Turbine Wheel diameter: 45.5 / 62.00mm

Really wanting to try a CXR ball bearing turbo next but I don't know what to get...

Ok the turbo is good Installed it and it rips good. Getting 10+psi by 3500rpm just on a pre-loaded wg, haven't played with EBC yet. Pulls 20psi all the way to redline but I'm going dial it back to 17-18. Just a short test drive tonight and I didn't have my laptop in the car so no logs.
