You say no shaft play? what hp were you pushing with what boost when you had it in?

I never had it dynoed, was running 12 psi.

One more question! I notice that it's not an "R" model. Does this mean that it's an older style Garret turbo and it's not ball bearing?

You are a correct, this is not a ball bearing turbo.

It spooled below 2000rpm, though; so that wasn't really a problem for me.
