Yeah, the only thing I know is that the oil feed is on the drivers side. I believe there may be a coolant feed as well?
The oil pan has a pre-existing oil drain, and the oil baffle appears to be different as well. Honestly while I might prefer the mazdaspeed block due to the coolant feed it's not THAT much different and certainly not better enought to significantly overpay.
If I had a 94' short block ready to build I wouldn't spend the extra money to buy another short block, but I am happy to sell if you are interested.

Both OBD1 94-95.5 and the MSM blocks have the oil/coolant port on the exhaust side.
Only difference is the MSM blocks use the 01+ thrust bearings compared to the normal 94-00 ones.
Also the rods are shot peened(minor) and the oil pump will be the slightly higher pressure VVT pump but those can be changed on any engine. Water pump outlet water pipe are MSM specific and go together. The main bearing support plate shown has to be mated with a pan that also used one; the earlier ones didn't. Pan is MSM specific but that isn't shown here either.
If this was much closer to me I would have already grabbed it because turbo

ACL bearings are going to be used in my engine build. The King Race bearings (STD) that were in the block that I bought already built are available. They were installed in the block but the engine was never run on them. I decided to use the ACL bearings instead just because that was my original plan. I realize not everyone might want them but if you are price conscious I would be willing to sell them for $45 shipped anywhere in the U.S.A..

Hey buddy, sorry for not getting back to you.
Messed up week. I've been spacier than usual.
It looks like my current block is going to be good to go after all, so I'll have to pass on this for now.

Look, I am totally ok with exploiting your tragedy to my gain. However, I would think that in Texas there would be some Miata clubs. I know that if I posted in the facebook group of my local Miata club looking for the parts you mentioned I would have two or three offers in a day or two.
If you are looking for a pan from a 1994-97 isellmiataparts.com has one in stock for $65. Keep an eye out on these two sites:
ISellMiataParts.com
The Parts Group - Used Miata Parts
