EFR 6258 Turbo Setup FOR SALE!!!
I am selling my turbo setup. No expense has been spared on this kit; every piece is the best you can buy. This setup features a Borg Warner EFR 6258 turbo, Precision 600 hp intercooler, Custom stainless steel tubular manifold, and 3” stainless steel exhaust. I’m selling the setup because I have decided to sell my NA to buy an NB.
Build Thread for this setup can be seen here:
https://www.miataturbo.net/build-threads-57/wittyworks-fabrication-3-week-build-thread-59615/
What comes with the kit:
Borg Warner EFR 6258 Turbo: w/ full race billet bov plate.
Comes with medium boost wastegate canister, and ebc solenoid. I didn’t have the ebc setup, I just ran wastegate pressure. This also comes with all the oil lines and water line that I used.
Precision 600hp intercooler:
Comes with aluminum mounting tabs that bolt in with the front bumper side attachments.
Aluminum one-piece charge piping: I fabricated all of the charge piping. It is one piece for the cold side and one piece for the hot side. The cold side pipe has an AIT bung welded in down low so it doesn’t heat soak, and it has a ½” npt hole with a 90 degree fitting for IAC hookup. Also has a 1/8” npt hole for wastegate source. All tig welded aluminum.
Trackspeed Inconel Studs: Locking hardware and resbond hasn’t been used yet. The sides of the locking pieces will need to be trimmed down slightly to fit onto the bolts.
Custom Low-Mount Short Tubular Manifold.
The build process for this manifold can be seen here: https://www.miataturbo.net/showthread.php?t=59615. I built this manifold using half-inch flanges and 1.5 inch schedule 40 bends from ace stainless. This manifold is and flanges are stainless steel, and every weld was back purged. This manifold flows extremely well; the EFR is spooled to 7.25 psi at 2602 rpm, and that’s without any spark tuning. Also, a great feature of this manifold is that it can be installed with the turbo already attached, which saves the pain of installing locking hardware inside the engine bay.
Downpipe. Full 3-inch downpipe that has a vibrant flex section and an o2 sensor bung welded in. Built using 3 inch tubing and mandrel bends from ace stainless. Every piece has been back purged.
Exhaust. Full 3-inch stainless exhaust, also built with tubing and mandrel bends from ace stainless, and fully back-purged. Right after the downpipe is a 2-foot test pipe, so that it’s very easy to put in a resonator or catalytic converter. Every connection uses a vibrant quick connect v-band clamp. The exhaust has a huge magnaflow (11x5x22) in back, and exits out the stock location on the passenger side. It’s a great noise level for a street car. The entire exhaust has over $250 dollars in v-bands alone. If someone wants, I could install a resonator, catalytic converter, or different muffler as well.
Price: $3500 plus shipping. Send me a pm if you are interested.
Additional parts available with setup:
DIYPNP with sequential fuel. $450
I built the DIYPNP, it currently has decent tune on it for this setup with id1000 injectors. It has the sequential injection board installed. This will come with the assembled unit, the db15 output cable, and all the leftover components from the build. I will also send the buyer my excel sheet of all the jumper locations.
ID1000 fuel injectors: $420
I’m only going to sell these as a package with everything if somebody is looking to buy the ENTIRE kit. Otherwise, I will be keeping them for the NB.
AEM Uego: $120
Also only for sale with the entire kit
Autometer Phantom Boost Gauge: $40
Also only for sale with the entire kit
Notes about fitment:
Doesn’t fit with a/c or powersteering.
Stock mixing manifold needs to be flipped, in order for hot side charge pipe to fit.
In order for the intercooler to fit, the mounts for the stock under tray need to be cut off at the front. The bottom of the intercooler is still above the bottom of the radiator. I can also sell a custom under tray that mounts to the front bumper in front of the stock under tray mounts.
Rear Passenger tow hook probably needs to be removed so muffler doesn’t interfere.
If anyone has other questions or I left something out, please let me know. Anyone can pm me if they are interested in purchasing.
Thanks,
Evan Witty

Heres spool data from the spool thread:
Engine: '95 1.8L
Turbo: Borg Warner EFR 6258
Manifold: Custom short stainless tubular
Downpipe Size/Style: Custom 3 inch
Exhaust Size: 3 inch
Exhaust Components: 5x11x22 "Biggest" magnaflow
Intercooler Core Size: Precision 600 hp, 31.50L x 8.00H x 3.50D
Intake Manifold: Stock
Headwork: none
Engine Management: diypnp
Other Spoolin' Helpers/Hurters: wastegate pressure, NO EBC or MBC
Trans & Rear End Ratio: 5-speed, 4.1 open
Rear tire size: 195/60R14
FOURTH GEAR PULL:
RPM Boost(psi)
1954 .304
2107 2.07
2206 3.21
2311 4.22
2428 5.55
2543 6.67
2602 7.25
Right above the 7.25 psi the wastegate starts to open, so in the log boost tapers off. I'm out of town until sunday, but when I get back I might readjust the wastegate to get some data up to about 10 psi.

I suppose if somebody only wants the manifold to the downpipe I can split it up, but I'd need all parties to PayPal before I do that.
Yup I never had it dynoed. All the places I've looked at around here cost over 100 dollars. I already can log spool data by myself, and I don't see the importance of a hp number when it isn't even close to the turbos capability because I have a stock motor.

Most boost I ever ran was 13 psi the other day for 10 minutes until I realized that I had set it too high. One pull at 14 psi and it was FLYING. It is now turned back down to 10 psi, where it has been for its life.
I would love to put this all on the NB when I get it, but the new car is going to be a college DD, and I want air conditioning, and this manifold won't work with AC. In order to sell anything, I basically have to sell the entire kit together, because everything is custom fit. Like I said earlier, this kit is PERFECT in every way, every part is the nicest you can get. Also, I like building the setups, so I don't mind starting again with the new car.
Thanks for the bump, and congrats on your future with a built motor

Has anyone run one of these on a built motor yet? Does it really spool like a 2560 and make better than 2871 power? dew want.
#15
It won't make 2871R power, but it does drive like a 2554R and make 2860RS power. Don't believe the dyno charts - the Gamma-TiAl turbine wheel really shines in real life.

So... its perfect for an autocross setup on a built vvt motor. Now I just have to sell my s4/2560 stuff and come up with some money.

Yup, sounds about perfect for an autox setup with a built vvt motor . Savington is speaking from experience too, he romped on my car for about 20 minutes a couple weeks ago to see the efr in real life. If either of you guys are seriously interested in the setup as a whole (jbrown or Ianferrel) please shoot me a pm.
