DIY T2 kit at Flyin' Miata (AVO)
Flyin' Miata has an old AVO turbo kit for sale on thier deal of the day page. It's cycled through three times now and cool be a good start for a DIYer.

Looks like by just sourcing a turbo and intercooler you could have a complete kit for cheap.

We've had this AVO kit kicking around here for longer than we''ve had a number of our employees. Never installed.
If you see it, it's included. If you don't see it, it's not. You see a manifold drilled with a T2 flange, a turbine outlet that mates to the stock downpipe, a heatshield, IC piping, nuts, bolts, studs, hose clamps and some hoses. You don't see an intercooler, a turbocharger, engine management or instructions. Nor do you see FM support, because it's not included either. $400

looks like you ould bolt any garrett t25/t28 to that manifold. those intercooler pipes are the hard ones to make. the one pipe on the upper left looks like the one that goes from the turbo outlet to over the p/s and down to the front of the engine.

i have the AFM mount and "S" connection for sale. also ave a saab elbow to use as a TB connector pipe
with an IC, turbo, and a little fab on the DP, you can build an fm1 or BEGI 4.2 CHEAP.

i wish I would have found something like this before I got my greddy. But I think the greddy kit is for people that dont know anything about turbo's. After you get the greddy you start thinking...I could have pieced together a good kit... lol

Seems like 1K total might get you close if you found some deals... Hmmm
