I'm building a motor right now. I have a VVT motor currently but was building my new one with a 99 head. How high can a built bottom rev with that head?

On the square top, what is up with the runner coloration near the mounting bolt holes? Almost looks like it has JB weld or something on them.

It does indeed look like JB weld or quick steel....something along those lines. OP can you clarify what we are seeing?
