Default Built Engine – Wiseco, Carillo H Beams, 1.9L, 99 Head (400hp+); Strong Motor

Selling a lightly used and strongly built 1999 motor; < 2000 miles (all street). No expense spared, no corners cut. This engine made 405rwhp (with the help of a 3071R, of course).

Bottom End
- Wiseco 9:1 Pistons
- Carillo H Beam rods
- ATI Super Damper
- Boundary Engineering Billet Oil Pump Gears
- 2001 oil pump, shimmed for 75psi max pressure
- ARP Main Studs
- ISC Racing Baffled Oil Pan
- ISC Racing Crank Scraper
- 01+ Main Bearing Support Plate
- Crankshaft has been balanced, bull nosed, and fully polished
- Bored to 1.9L
- Oil pan has fitting for oil drain and has an oil temp sender installed
- OEM Protege head gasket

Head
- 1999 Head
- Integral Cams, 272 degree (these were $744 brand new and no longer available); head has been clearance for added lift
- Flyin Miata stainless steel valves
- Flyin Miata springs
- ARP head studs
- Bell coolant reroute
- Jackson racing oil cap

Does not include intake/exhaust manifold, ignition, fuel rail/injectors (although all are available for purchase if the buyer is interested).

Price: $4200

This is about half what it cost to build this motor. Here is a helpful reference for building a comparable engine: http://flyinmiata.com/enginebuilder/configurator.php . Adding H beams, a crankshaft balance, and core charge totals to $8365. That doesn’t include cams, a baffled oil pan, crank scraper, MBSP, billet oil pump gears, etc.

Engine is out of the car and ready for pickup/ shipping.

Will consider selling the head and block separately if separate buyers can commit to purchase and agree on an equitable split for pricing. I have a local offer on the bottom end already, so anyone interested in the head or whole motor PM me.

Damn Tempting, it looks like the valvetrain is still shim over bucket and non-adjustable cam gears, is that correct?

I'm interested, couple of questions.

why was it removed?
compression/leakdown #s?
who did the machine work/engine building?
any head work other than the cam clearance?
was the block sonic checked before overbore?
do you know how much material is left between the bores?
was the block torque plated when bored/honed?
what is the current oil consumption?
any videos of it running right before removal?
what are the specs on those cams? lift? centerline and or overlap?
whose suggestion was it to not run underbuckets and reasoning?
is the timing ground into the cams from integral? why no adj camgears?

Thanks!

Sure - answers below in red. The engine was built by the PO, so I'm unsure of the answers to some of the questions.

why was it removed? Too many toys - I decided to part this one out. I have a 95 FMII turbo track car already and we are building a turbo '92 for my fiance. Three turbo Miatas is a bit overkill. The roller will be available shortly if anyone is interested.

compression/leakdown #s? Have not performed a compression test; the motor has < 2000 miles on it and runs perfectly. I spent over $1000 tuning this car at Balanced Performance in Buford, GA last fall and the car pulled strong on their dyno.

who did the machine work/engine building? Cool Cat Racing in Macon, GA

any head work other than the cam clearance? I believe there is some port/polish work, however that is not documented so I didn't list it. May just be a freebie for the buyer.

what is the current oil consumption? None that I can tell; car was equipped with a 2 quart accusump to prevent any oil starvation

any videos of it running right before removal?

Yes:

what are the specs on those cams? lift? centerline and or overlap? I'm looking for the specs now, however that is proving difficult since Integral is no longer in business. These were the standard spec 272 degree camshafts they offered for turbo applications

is the timing ground into the cams from integral? Cams were ground by Integral from billet steel blanks

why no adj camgears? Not sure - decision was made by the previous owner

So true people under price built motors. Alot more then pistons, rods and etc all the little stuff adds up plus machine isn't cheap unless you go cheap which probably shouldn't even build a motor at that point if you go that route. Overall looks good. Best of luck selling. Someone should pick this up.

Correct - I am located in Atlanta, however the engine can be shipped anywhere. My zip code is 30316 if anyone wants to estimate shipping costs.

The engine probably weighs 250-300 pounds and I have a pallet that weights 30-40 pounds to ship it on. I'll use the shipper of buyer's choice and can possibly transport to a terminal to help reduce expense.

The Accusump is going in my '95.

I haven't listed the roller yet, but it is a '99 chassis. Here are a few highlights (any of the high performance parts not listed aren't coming with the car, but could possibly be available to the buyer. I'm keeping the suspension, APR spoiler, brakes, and oil cooler/accumulator for my other turbo car.)

- Clean '99 Roller, silver with painted black stripes; paint is new-ish and in perfect condition.
- Vented hood
- OEM hardtop, bolted down with Air Tab vortex generators (can easily be removed if desired)
- Hard Dog full cage
- Full Mazda Comp bushing kit
- Fenders cut and flared
- Garage Vary front lip
- Undercarriage lined with DEI reflective gold foil
- Front and rear tow hooks
- Quick release steering wheel
- Baller stainless gas door
- Includes carpet, center console, dashboard, all glass, headlights/ taillights, steering rack, PS pump, OEM brakes, OEM seat, gauge cluster, whatever wheels I can find laying around the garage (don't expect much)
- Does not include: engine, transmission, diff, PPF, axles

Great starting point for a V8 or turbo build. I'm going to start a separate thread for the roller so we don't clutter this one up. In the meantime, PM me if interested.

Available for pickup in Atlanta immediately.

$3800

Here are some pictures of the car pre-part out:
