Sounds like you may be onto something.
I don't think large barb to 6an is common but you could easily run this combo and make it do what you want. (assuming heater hose is ~1/2in)

For my setup I have a Supermiata QMAX reroute in place. I was going to tap a 1/4 NPT > 6an in the side of the rear coolant housing where the tstat is/heater inlet and run my turbo line from here and then weld an AN 6 onto my existing mix housing. In theory your idea would do the same thing as mine with the only difference being my coolant is coming from the head and not passing through the heater core, for better or worse.
Caveat: If your heater core cracks, so doesn't your coolant that would be going to the turbo...but I guess you have other issues to deal with at this point too.

As long as the performance of the heater isn't significantly reduced by throttling down to -6AN then I think I would be happy to go ahead with something like that.
Another way of looking at it is that a leaky core is a useful warning... I suppose my glass is half-full?

Very interesting, thanks. Since I live in the UK I don't have to deal with weather extremes, so I expect that the demand on the heater matrix would be fairly low - even in the coldest winter we've had since I've owned my NB, I've never had to resort to "full-hot" on the heater controls - I find this becomes uncomfortably hot even when there's snow on the ground.
I'm at the south end of Australia, so while we get cold weather, i've only seen snow once in my entire life..... and had to travel to the top of a mountain to find it.
Pretty much every morning from early June to early September, my heater stays cranked at full.
(summer is a different story, roof on there's no ventilation, roof off your skin turns to pork crackle in a minute flat)
But i'm with you, a cracked heater core will be more noticeable than a split hose in the engine bay.
Worst case, you smell coolant in the cab and just loop the heater lines to bypass the core.

Just thought I would put my two cents in. I have a 94 Mazda Miata with A/C and P/S, with a MSM turbo install, the billet water-pump outlet worked perfect, the only thing that was required for me to do was install some 20mm (3/4 inch) spacers and 20mm longer bolts for the power steering pump bracket. Also to install the bottom hex key bolt on the billet waterpump inlet the a/c bracket needs to be removed to make space and then re-installed after they allen bolt is installed.
All and all, everything worked great, and I could only imagine the NB would be even easier since the A/C compressor and related bracket is smaller.

I feel bad for not posting. I installed on my 01 with ps and ac late last fall. Both ac and ps are bolted as normal. I also tapped the side for a return from the tb and turbo. Used 3/8 brake line to bring it up thru the belt area to a junction return from tb and turbo. The adapter needed a corner trimmed to clear the block. Inlet before ac bracket of course. Needed 3 bends with the rad hose.
With a long 1/4 drive and wobble the hose clamp can be accessed decently.
Tight but has never rubbed
Hard line is tb and turbo return.
Was working out the hard line for heater. Heat shield support as well. The shield really improved the ac. The fitting for tb/turbo return is in place.
This really shows the heat shield more than coolant. Was considering a flex line.
Tb and turbo return ready for t fitting.
