Depends on the pistons you use. Some do not work with oil squirters. I believe it is the custom FM Weisco pistons, but it may be a few others.
Oh nifty. I also did some reading and it can also be used to bump up the oil pressure on the bearings, which is especially useful on a drag car where the cooling benefits from oil squirters is minimal.

I think that's backwards -- the custom FM Weisco's do work with squirters, but the generic ones do not.
More generally, my understanding is that squirters are intended to cool the pistons, which is of benefit in a forced induction motor. In an NA build you don't need that extra cooling, and the presence of the squirters both reduces the oil pressure and can increase windage losses from extra whipping around in the crankcase.
I'm usually a fan of "better safe than sorry" but has anybody actually had a failure due to lack of oil squirters? If not failure, notice any extra wear and tear?
