AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kit
Is anyone on this forum using this kit? I've been comparing this kit to the Devil's Own and the Hydramist trying to decide which one's for me. From all my reading, it looks like this will work best for me. Just curious if anyone had any thoughts on it or was willing to try and convince me to go with something else.

It appears to be functionally identical to the DevilsOwn kit.
Both use PWM to control the speed of the pump motor. Both reference pump speed to manifold pressure but not to RPM. The AEM costs $100 more, but comes with a tank that can be purchased elsewhere for $30-$40.

I disconnected it and haven't bought the methanol yet. I rebuilt my engine not too long ago. I'll turn it on next Monday.

I think either setup would work actually, but I liked the idea of starting with something that was complete from a single vendor. Wasn't sure if getting a tank from somewhere else would be as simple as it sounds. It would be nice to get a tank that is a direct fit for where my spare tire would go. The aem tank has the flapper in the tank to tell you when it's low as well, not sure if they all have that, but it sounds like a smart idea. The plan is to run a similar failsafe mechanism similar to what you did as well.

BTW, I installed my water tank right next to my trunk lid mechanism.

I don't know if the 1 gallon tank will be big enough, the 5 gallon tank looks like a better fit for me.
As for the flapper, I'm wanting it to be as safe as possible, so any extras are nice. I have an electronic boost control that I will be integrating into the setup. When all is well it will be on the high boost setting and when there's an error it will resort to a lower boost setting that the motor is tuned for without meth.
Speaking of meth, these setups say you can use 50% meth. I'm wanting to run 100% meth, can I do so without any problems?

Keeping the intercooler, I just don't want to be concerned with filling it more often than my gas tank. Does your 2.5 gallon tank last you an entire tank of gas (when you are driving your car like it was meant to be driven)?

How about nozzle selection, the instructions say to start with the smallest one and work your way up. Sounds like a recipe to spend a bunch of time on a dyno tuning. Is that what everyone here has done or is there a proven path for a Miata? Or am I missing something, once you have the correct nozzle installed, you just put it on a dyno and tune it just like a car running race gas.

I think the one that comes with the kit is too small. That will indeed force me to buy a bigger one.

Shurflo requires not running more than 50/50 mix of water/methanol with this pump.

I'm actually halfway serious about this. I almost feel like I've done enough reading on the subject of WI over the past week to write a thesis on it, at least compared to the staggering degree of ignorance that seems to surround the topic within the automotive community... It'd be expensive to do it right, but from what I've seen, the kits on the market today are barely scratching the surface in terms of the potential that WI has as a serious power-enabler.
