VVT swap pre-start questions
NA6 chassis + eudm vvt motor w/2560r + braineack ms3x
I religiously followed the VVT megathread for wiring and install. I will be putting the engine in its new home and turning the key this weekend if not today after work.
Before I get on with it, there's a couple things I'm unsure about.
1) tune - do I adjust my current 1.6 tune or upload a fresh 01 basemap from trubokitty and start anew?
2) vvt control - i have my 12v coming from the injector harness, where exactly do I send my signal wire? I considered omitting my boost controller and sending the vvt signal to the maf plug temporarily but i will inevitably want both.
3) tachometer - the wording in the swap thread is a bit confusing to me. I fused the yellow/blue and black/white wires where the ignitor was, is that all I have to do to get my dash to work or is there something more?

You tweak the basemap you already had. You do not load the basemap for a different chassis.
I also used the 12v from the fuel injectors for my vvt solenoid and had it go back to the ecu with a vvt trigger. Polarity doesn't matter.
Which coils are you using for the vvt swap? Coils dictate what happens to the tachometer.

I wish I had more info for you. Unfortunately I went with the ls585 coils on my vvt swap. But, with that said, the LS coils do not provide for an igniter either. I ended up running a wire from my megasquirt output wire specifically for tachometer and ran it directly to behind the gauge cluster on the tachometer input. That is how I solved my problem with tachometer.

Tachometer worked right out of the box. I turned on tach control in TS and it worked fine. Had to change sensor type from 4g63 to 99-05 miata and to falling edge ignition.
still not sure about vvt control, but i have other issues to address for now so it can wait.
Edit:
Tach was reading wrong and flicking at certain rpm. 1k resistor in diag box fixed. Vvt signal wire was soldered to pin 24 (or 27? - Nitrous 2) of one of my ms connectors - matched it up with trubokitty assembly guides.
