Default Used Megasquirt 2 and harness testing

I picked up a used ms2 with a harness. The harness looks a little sketchy and a few wires are not hooked up to any pins. It came out of a running but I'd like to test it before plugging it in.
I plan to check all the wiring against the instructions. What's the worst that can happen if I plug it into my car as is?

The car or the MS?
The MS looks well put together and has the jumpers and mods for a 1.6. I just have concerns about the harness. I just need to find a good this wire goes to this pin diagram. I found some for 1.8 motors but I'm not sure the are the same.

Yeah, you need to remove the wiring harness from you car and install Mazda's MS3 harness...

But if things so badly I might give this a shot:

why would you do that to yourself?

the MS requires it to be opened up so you know how it was built. Or the loaded tune needs to be looked at in the least.

the dangling wires could be anything, the pink is the O2 input for one. The others could be EBC out or a handful of other input/output wires that the builder chose to access. youd have to trace where they are going back to the DB37 connector, then see what circuit they go to on the ECU itself.

one does not simply install and turn-key a custom built ECU without any knowledge/knowhow.

Yes, I have a problem with patients, but I'm working on it. I took the tape off and it's a pretty messy job with bent pins and heat shrink that might have been done with a candle.
I think I'll de-solder, trim back and do it all pretty like.
In the meantime I think I need a MS Stim to test and load a base tune pre turbo.
I did take the cover off, it's a version 3 pcb with the ms2 daughter board.

Oh an the Link ECU control will be for sale soon

That's a one scary harness.

one wrong move and youll short out the computer and blow up the car in a raging fire.

looks like whoever built it already caught it on fire using his iron to shrink the insulation -- foreshadowing.

Inside the jumpers look different than the ones you have on the sticky

Finished cleaning up the harness.
Checked wiring, some show tps blue wire connected some don't. Also found a spot for O2 purple wire. This leave fuel pump and one other wire unconnected.

I'd trim all those leads shorter to make sure they cant accidentally touch if bent somehow. also insulate them (i use hot glue) so you cant short them out on the chassis once installed.

internal mods look fine.

it makes me agnry you used that disgustingly awful diagram and not mine.

Thanks. I do plan to insulate the rest. I haven't even shrunk the heat shrink yet. I just wanted to make sure it all was connected right then I will fill it will some silicone.
I'm waiting for my Stim and IAT to arrive from diymegasquirt so I can bench test and load a basic tune for my non-turbo engine.
