Tuning a Megasquirt in Northern VA
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for tuning options in Northern VA. I know PTuning does it, but their prices have gone up significantly.
This is a naturally aspirated NB 100% track build.
PTuning quoted $750 for the tune, and said they might have to charge an extra $150 to inspect the car first to make sure everything was done correctly unless they install the megasquirt.
If I had the time I would go down to Peter Florence in VA beach but my first race will be in March and I was hoping to have the car ready and tuned prior and I won't have time to go down there. I might just run without the megasquirt the first event or two and eventually get the tune unless I can find someone up here to help. I know Braineack is around here but not sure if he knows who can tune. I PMed but haven't heard back yet.
Thanks in advance!

Granted I dont know what your area is like. But $750($900?) Sounds abserd for a tune. I paid $400 for my last time, $200 to rent the dyno for two hours, $200 to the tuner.
Granted that wasn't a "from scratch" tune. I'd already done extensive street tuning and only went to the dyno for playing spark and some fine adjustments.

Considering that this is not a forced induction application it should be fairly straightforward. Furthermore since they don't use a dynojet, I will have to pay $150 to the local guy with a dynojet to get a nasa acceptable dyno for classing.
Hence why I might end up just holding off a couple months.

What is there to tune on a track NA car?
Get a decent base map that starts the car.
tune idle so it doesnt stall, hell, on a track car even open loop idle control will work just fine.
Find a decent na spark table, copy/paste
Autotune fuel.
Profit.
NA cars are much more forgiving to tuning than turbo setups.

I was referring to my ST6 NB build which needs to be tuned. I think I just decided to go to VICS instead of the flat top, and I'll be installing the megasquirt asap. Then it will be time to finally decide where to tune.
I was hoping there were other options around here other than the two I just mentioned but it seems not.
