Default Name that Megasquirt

Can anyone tell me what this Megasquirt is, exactly? It's an MS3, it has CAN bus connector, it has red LEDs on the side. I have an MS2, so this doesn't look very familiar. Got it out of a parted car and want to make sure I describe it properly before selling it, so the potential buyer knows what he's getting doesn't; end up with unexpected issues.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! Don't have my Miata near me, unfortunately.
Is it possible to tell by the files in TunerStudio project or MSDroid project? If so, where should I look?

looks like a diy unassembled unit that was put together by some random dude

perhaps there's a serial on the board inside that you can send to DIYautotune to confirm which unit it is.

Thanks!

I think you are right, it was assembled from a kit by somebody. Will look and see what the serial umber is. The second DB-7 is the MS3X expansion cad, right? Odd that I didn't see the CAN bus conntroller with that DB-9 connector on DIY's site. Have I missed it?

While I'm at it... I it possible to move a tune from MS2 to MS3? The reason 'm asking is that MS2 has 12x12 fuel map and MS3 is 16x16, right?

Thanks again for the help, really appreciated.

A couple more pics. Am I correct that this is an MS3X with CAN bus? Want to make sure that the new owner knows exactly what they're getting. Could you confirm that?

Thanks!.

Thats an MS3+MS3x on a 3.0 PCB mainboard. It can be configured with CAN if it was setup that way. There are CANH and CANL pins that need to be connected though.

Thank you, sir! PO of the car said that they used CAN and I assume flat wire is that connector?

Either way, thank you very much for your help!

I'll advertise it as Ms3x and let the new owner figure the finals details.

Unless... I run a Reverant-built MS2 Enhanced. in my NB1 (dedicated AutoX car). Plan to do E85 conversion with dual maps for gas/E85, but probably not go with ''01+ engine and no FI. So is there any real benefit to this MS3 over my MS2?

Could you tell me why? I wouldn't be able to transfer the tune from MS2 to MS3, right?
And, should I sell this one and buy PnP for my '2000?

Thanks again, guys! Hope to figure it out, I've been perfectly fine with an MS2, other than a few minor things having to do with a specific build.

The MS3 will help you out lots with tweaking things, things that the MS2 just sort of ignores or overly simplifies.

As far as buying the PnP, unless this unit doesn't work...why go through the hassle?

Hopefully you disclose everything very clearly when selling this unit

ms2 and NB don't belong together.

I've ran an MS2 in an NB1 for 5 seasons now (not a street car if it matters?). My thinking is that until I go to a VVT engine, I'll probably not need an MS3, so why have it sit here unused. That is, if I can go to E85 and dual maps on MS2.

Would love to hear anything I should disclose/detail when selling this MS3s, though. I hate when sellers lie to me and hate to lie to a buyer, even unintentionally. So, any type of guidance would be appreciated. And, as always, thank you guys for all your help. I'm still trying to learn and understand.

You'll 'lie' way less if you sell your MS2 and run this MS3X yourself.

To do that I'll have to lose the tune. Which cost me $500 in dyno time. Don't really want to do that if not needed, so..

This is a dedicated autocross car, Explain why you'd want MS3 over an installed and working MS2 for that particular situation, 'cause I don't get it right now.
