MSPNP3 Swap Advice Needed - NA6 with BP1 Engine Race Car
#21
Perhaps DIY is consistent across everything, but I would want to ask them before attempting to run an NA6 ECU on a basemap for an NB1.

Update: SHE RUNS!!! At Dyno now for tuning, then first WRL endurance race at High Plains next weekend (8 hrs + 7 hrs).
Started with the '90-'93 MS basemap as Emilio suggested to follow the ignition system. Only hiccup was I had to switch to Falling Edge ignition trigger and then I could adjust timing with the angle offset value.
Tuner has the '99-'00 basemap for Fuel and Timing reference as the engine is now a 1.94 liter running high compression to compensate for our thin Mile High air... will also investigate VICS activation rpm (and/or multiple points). Anxious to see how much stronger she is...
Thanks Guys.

If fuel economy is important for your race strategy, pay close attentions to fueling at less than WOT. At your altitude, it'll probably only pull 85kpa or so. Lean cruise should be around 55kpa. Also transient fuel, accel wizards. Keep those as lean as you can and still get sharp response.
You can lose 20% fuel economy with a sloppy map pretty easily.
Separate issue but train your drivers to use either WOT or closed throttle. Part throttle for long periods is wasteful. Better to shift up to a higher gear and go WOT then stay in a lower gear at part throttle. Overall, short shift whenever you can.
This is stuff learned from um, several endurance racing wins in years past.

Race update:
The car was solid and much faster with the MegaSquirt conversion...
We took P2 in Saturday's 8 hour WRL Enduro, 1:09 behind the Winners. After cleaning up our Pit Stop Errors from Saturday's race, we took P1 in Sunday's 7 Hour race with three Miatas on the same lap after 177 laps. That's great racing!
Thanks for all the advice this Build Season guys! Much appreciated.
