Hey everyone, hopefully this isn't too noobish, tried to do my due diligence before posting anything. I've been lurking here since March, I have a 96 Miata, I've slowly been collecting parts for a turbo build from the classifieds and reading and learning as much as possible since then.
The reason for this thread is as the title states, I can't get my Miata started on MegaSquirt. I got my MS3x kit and everything from DIYautotune, built everything according to Braineack's trubokitty.com. VERY helpful/informative page btw. Firstly, I installed an AEM Analog WB02 and had it working on the stock ECU. Car runs perfect on stock ECU, no CEL. Built the wiring harness as shown, installed the GM IAT from DIY, ran the vacuum line to the MegaSquirt, and hooked everything up. Got firmware and basemap loaded and installed. Tried starting and nothing, so I began troubleshooting. Was able to verify each injector with the test modes, checked for spark and nothing when cranking. I tried the spark test mode to verify wiring to coils, and I get spark on every plug. I ran a composite log (attached), and there is no blue line which I believe means no crank signal? I've adjusted the pots time and again according to the instructions on trubokitty.
Thoughts or suggestions? I'm kinda lost on where to start digging next.
Got it figured out, I looked up the schematic for the main board and using a JimStim to provide tach signal and an led tester hooked up to ground, I started probing the mainboard, starting at the DB37 working my way towards the cpu. I had pulsing signal all the way till I got to TSEL where it was just solid output. Turned the board over and upon closer inspection found my issue as you can see in the picture. There's 2 holes close to VROUT, I had hooked it up to the wrong one thinking it was right because it was next to the text saying VROUT. I thought I was being very meticulous on assembly of the board but screwed up here. I resoldered it correctly, made sure I had tach input with the JimStim, which I now did. Plugged it into the car and voila, started right up. I post this so that hopefully if someone runs into something similar in the future this might help. I hate when I come across a problem thread and then when they get the problem figured out, they are gone with no explanation of what the fix was.
