find it? it's loaded on the unit.

plug it in, open your project, connect it to TS, and it'll d/l off the unit once connected (and prompted), then hit file save tune as, and they can "find" the tune.

I can email you what I loaded when I'm home if you really need it.

Charlie, were you not able to get the tune off the MS?

I'm local, like 93908. I'm no expert but I've done this before if you need another set of eyes.

No worries! Hope I can help where I can. Responded to your PM.

Ok Guys, I got a chance to help Charlie out yesterday and I've run into a sticking point. He got Brains instructions and we walked through them and confirmed everything looked good, but we are at that part where you get to start the car and set timing... and I can't find the bloody timing marks on the balancer. No seriously, there is like one white dot on the face of the balancer but its not anywhere near where I would expect it.

We did find that the sensor ground for the Wideband was not hooked up, so took care of that and things were pretty close in TunerStudio (0.3~0.4)

This is a 94-97 1.8 with a CAS and I'm used to NB hardware so this is a little different for me. I need to confirm TDC but I don't want to rip his engine apart to do it. Here is what I'm thinking:
  1. Remove all 4 plugs
  2. Get big socket and crank engine around manually
  3. Use screwdriver/dipstick to confirm top of stroke
  4. Check for cam lobe in oil fill hole (should point outboard)
  5. Mark "Probably TDC" with white-out
  6. Crank with timing light and see if we are close

The car actually ran on the stock ECU before the MS3 went in so I don't really want to pull the valve cover off. It "should" be pretty close to the 10 degrees the stock ECU expects to be able to run.

She cranks and pushes fuel around, we get the occasional pop through the exhaust, but I can't get it to pop with any frequency. We abused it until the battery got warm so it was time to stop.

What do? Logs attached.

Braineack: Can you confirm that his MS3 hardware was setup for batch ignition to work with the stock coilpack? I can't quite figure out what I'm looking at here.

should be.

can you do a composite log while cranking to see if the cam/crank signals are coming through properly?

Awesome, thanks

Can do, I'll be back to look at it again tonight and I'll see if I can pull a composite. I don't know why I didn't think of that, its been over a year since I touched a MS and I'm still a noob with some of this stuff

Something else I just thought of... is it possible that the harness connectors are on the wrong coils? I think the blue marked one goes on the passenger side, and that's 1/4? I think its labeled on the coil pack bracket. At any rate I'll look it up today and confirm all the ignition stuff after we are done confirming the timing.

The harness connectors would be correct at the coils. Remember it ran on the stock ecu.. The only way they could be firing opposite is if the boomslang was wired wrong. Try swapping the connectors and try firing it.
