MegaSquirt MS3Pro PnP w TunerStudio Raspberry Pi 4 integration??!

Howdy y'all! I bought someone else's NA 96 project car. He had the best of intentions and spent BIG money on the engine rebuild conversion but then just let other stuff slide; completely. 1.8 punched to 1.9 with Kraken 3" 62/58 and Six Speed transmission, etc. stuff loose in the cockpit, the HardDog rollbar has loose bolts, the Momo passengers seat missing bolts and rattling around, the Skunk2 nuts were loose and missing, etc., etc., etc.
The REAL question here is, the MS3Pro PnP is serial hooked up to a Raspberry Pi 4 and TunerStudio via Pahl's Performance. I don't know how "old" this thing is but it seems to work, sorta. Do I buy some version of TunerStudio so that I can have the gauges/dashboard setup I want to see come up automatically? Or is there something better out there nowadays that will work with this setup. Again the Squirt is connected and working w the Pi now on a little touchscreen display. BUT what Dashboard software works best with this setup, or which version of TunerStudio do I get?
Yes I work in IT, but my Luinx/Raspberry experience is next to non-existent. More importantly, my experience with THIS craziness on a Miata is completely non-existent! I'm looking for Pro input, knowledge and experience! The car will be HPDE tracked, but used on the street as well.
If I'm in the wrong forum, please direct me to the right spot. And thanks for any guidance here!

Welcome! You're in the right place.
If it's already installed, and works well, I would leave it. It would come in handy if something starts acting up and laptop isn't available. It's also useful if your MS3 isn't setup with internal datalogging. Run the latest TunerStudio with a custom layout showing the data you want to readily see. Off hand I would want to see AFR and AFR target, EGO correction, boost psig, %baro/MAP, MAT, ECT, oil pressure and temp, maybe even some idle related settings. If you have a knock sensor, add a knock light, and I would also have a button to toggle datalogging on/off. But of course, the beauty is that you can make it do as you like. There isn't a great document online on how to configure the TunerStudio dashes in a nice way but there are videos on youtube that can get you started. If you're comfortable with computers you'll figure it out in no time.
In my experience, I don't look away from the road while on-track, and even then, it's only a quick glance at the cluster for temps and RPMs on the straights. Consider setting up the MS3 to do something that alerts you (i.e lower RPM limit, boost cut) instead of relying on you looking at a gauge and making a decision

Thanks for the reply. YES totally, this isn't a "stare at it and watch it change" kind of setup, ALERTS and just general info are what are desired (by me). Since the car is on the street too, I want to be able to see what it's up to. On the track, all bets are off and there ain't no time for any of that UNLESS it's about ready to blow!
This is what I was thinking about for now:
Beavis Track Car Dash
So what version of TunerStudio do I buy, the whole enchilada? Might need it, might as well, right now it's just the freebie...
Tuner Studio Plus!
Thanks for your insight and patience!

ah, sorry. Forgot to answer the version part. If alerts are a must, then you need MS Ultra. MS Ultra also has more functions that let you configure tuning/dyno specific views and has an integrated log viewer and user actions/triggers. I personally use Megalogviewer HD for analysis instead of TS MS Ultra so don't find the Ultra as huge benefit most of the time. The Tuning/Dyno views are useful when you're live tuning, but still take time to setup (only one is given with the software). I find myself just using the main dashboard with a bunch of windows open more often than not. If alerts are not mandatory for your wants/needs, then the paid MS will do it.

Also, this root has a bunch of articles about different TS functions: https://www.tunerstudio.com/index.ph...dio/tsarticles

Luckily my cousin is a cybersecurity/networking guy that natively speaks Lunix... TunerStudio MS Ultra installed and working!
Now onto setting up a useful dashboard. The screen isn't big enough for all the fancy stuffs that you would normally have up. Boost, Temps and Pressures are likely all I'm about to get on there and be able to see.
THANKS again for the reply and guidance.
