IAT Sensor Installation

wait i remember, you could run it (i believe)to an orange wire under the dash, but its a lot easier to run it to the MAF/AFM harness, mostly because you do not have to cut into any wires but rather just plug it in

it sounds like you may be confeusing the IAT with the MAP, the MAP has a vacuum running back to MS

I have a link that uses a lot of the factory wiring. I regret when I installed the link that I followed the install instructions and brought everything back to the ECU via existing (for the most part) wiring. I would have rather made the connection from the ECU directly for some things.
When you bring the IAT to the AFM harness you have to splice it in no?

While we are on the topic of temperature measurement, do our cars need a new CLT to be installed or is the one thats in there sufficient for the MS?
The Msefi site had a great explanation in one of the subforums. Thanks for the headsup.
Sam, read the megamanual, and go to www.msefi.com
there's tons of references.

I know the difference between the two

Of course, I wasn't at that meeting, but I assume that FM's decision to repurpose factory wiring was done for cost cutting, not for practicality.
With the MS, you could cut the wires and connect directly, but it comes with connectors that push into the AFM harness. However I've never been happy with that, so this winter when I pull the motor I'm also going to re-run the temp sensor wiring straight to the cabin and to the ecu directly. I'll do the same thing I did with the Link; put an ecu pin on the new wire, open up the harness, and replace the factory wiring with what I made. Again, if the MS comes out, the car easily goes back to stock.
