Dear sirs,
i want to ask a title of any book or manual or something because i am finding imposible to learn. A lot of disorder information. I need to follow some steps instead of reading tonnes of post and replys wich without the base i need are imposible to follow.
and i dont want to be asking without some knowledge. Please guide me how to learn because i want to control MS.

do you want to learn how to build one, or how to tune a car with one and what all the functions do?

Wow, it is really dense subject understanding the game with MS. It is not easy to start, I can say that it is totally an engineering subject, because I have been passing exams for 5 years, and all of you who really control it you have all my respects. It is very very difficult to tune a car at 100% of the posibbilities that this fantastic ecu gives.
i have been reading for hours, as much as posible for getting wet of it during my flights. tomorrow I will print everithing, almost for me is easier to study with paper wich i can highlight and takes notes.
after some days I will start asking some questions.
if anybody of you could analize the given map from reverant personally i will be grateful, and receiving some tips for starting, but not yet, i have to do some homework.
i really want to control technically this ecu, because where i live there is nobody who does.

unfortunately there isn't a guide for dummy's.
But the megamanual does give instructions.
Understanding how everything fits together and how it affects the result is a journey. Ive had to read it over & over again. Sometimes with Tuner studios open so I understand what they are talking about.videos are great too. But there is no shortcut. I found it helps to write it down too. for example trying to get my head around Flex fuel sensors & how to make the tables switch & so on. then when going back over text id written down & checking instructions quite often Id revise my notes. Athgough I'm way off actually activating the table. this sort of thing helps because as you move to different subjects you forget things., Because of serious information overload
there are instructions of sequence
installation instructions for a PnP are everywhere & pretty straight forward
1. calibrate sensors
2. set spark trigger
3. set engine & sequential settings
4. other engine settings
5. get your 5 started
6. get it to idle
7. auto tune
8. data logging
9. revising data & understanding data that you look at. there is so much info. but there are some good guides on what data you need to seek out & when.
fast forward to step

The pros can see if a tune is good or not, by just looking at a few scatter logs within seconds. For us virgins, this may take weeks or months of going backwards or forwards.Because we think we understand but down the road realize. I didn't quite understand it the 3rd time around. and its now the 5th time.
In some of the old manuals it goes into how different things interact. read those as well. language used is a little different. But I found it useful some times as it just puts the same issue in slightly different words.
If your trying to learn this with a turbo car......tread carefully. N/A is perhaps better for the beginners as here is a much higher margin of a catastrophic fail.....and you pick your engine up in peaces around the road.
a simple guide for dummies is impossible. you need to understand how the engine works & how one setting affects another and how the Megasquirt calculates that.
Essential you are instructing the ECU. Imagine being a coach for a Ice-hockey team(or what ever sport) and you've never played the game.

thanks for the replys, If someone was able to design an V1 rocket, I must be able to communicate with this ecu.
just going to take this as a career subject, and the exam is not destroying my vvt.

I would change the order a little bit here and instead recommend you get your car started by any means necessary, then get it up to operating temperature, then using a combination of manual tuning and auto-tuning (VEAL) get the VE table sorted so that you hit your target AFR for any given load/rpm at near steady state (best done on a load bearing dyno), then go back and work on your idle settings (which may be on a completely separate map from your main VE1 fuel table and may also involve your Spark1 table and idle control valve settings), then work on your start-up sequence (cranking pulse width, ASE percentage adder and taper and WUE multiplier). This all assumes you have a pretty decent Spark1 table to begin with. Once your fueling is dialed in you can start tweaking your ignition table for better fuel economy and performance under certain operating conditions, which will then in turn have an effect on your fueling table. It's an iterative approach and changing one thing may have effects elsewhere.

d) Low Impedance (less than 4-3 Ohms) With this type, current must be limited by tunning two parameters for avoiding overheating the inj.
PWM Current limit % and "Time Threshold for PWM Mode" ((Page 8-23 configure manual)
I dont want to look, like, you only copy...I am using this for taking my own notes, easy to use them when I have the laptop on the miata. So it will be very rich for every new user, particular questions and answers condensed.

Our NB2.5 what kind of idle control has?
a) Fast Idle "solenoid type" valve
b) Stepper motor IAC

Hi breineack, I extract that paragraph from forum miata, but I will check your thread.
want I want to study is how to set up the dead time, it is esential but i have never done before extracting the info from the megalog and transporting to excel, as jason method.
i am sure that it is easy the second time you do it, but as everithing white paper is difficult to beat.
i need a little more time, but all going well
