;Hello everybody I am receiving a mega squirt PNP2 in the mail next week; I've installed a Wideband and have spliced into the stock 02 sensor cable via my analog output. I have also installed a KNN intake in place of the stock Air box. The car runs very choppy and the gauge read outs are all over the place from 12:-19:0 in fact the read outs are typically so lean that it stops reading and im guessing that is do to the air box delete. in the near future I want to install mega squirt and tune out this problem, im very new to all this and tuning but am willing to learn; when getting into mega squirt from everything from the installing to the tuning itself what are some good do's and donts. Obviously I dont want to break my car , but I also want to fix its hiccups and improve the performance a little. Also how many hours of research should I do before screwing with the megasquirt base map? I know there is lots of smart and experienced people on hear and i hope to hear from some of you. Thanks for your time and my apologizes for my unorganized back round and questions feel free to message me privately , link me to videos, link me to forums or sites that might help my case (:---------.

You do not mention the year of your car, so you either have a gray box mounted on top fo the original airbox, or a round looking sensor. If it is a gray boxy looking thing, it has a flapper door on it, that more airflow means the door moves more. if it does not have that, the car has no idea how much air is entering the engine and why it will run choopy and badly. if it is the round sensor, is mesure airflow as well, but a different method. removeing both of those on a stock computer is bad. One of the "upgrades" for the gray box years ago was to get a slightly larger one form an early 2nd gen rx7s, but if you are going megasquirt, do not waste your money on that, as it required a bunch of trial and error to change the spring inside to give it a signal that the miata computer could use, it was just used because it had a largger intenral volume to flow better at high rpms
Only when you install a megasquirt, is when you can remove those.
Yeas ago before I got a megasquirt, i had gotten a corcle to flat attachment adaptor from my local autozone/pepboys, but that was like 2007-ish. there might be some oneline, just make sure you get whatever is sized to fit that bolt pattern, and then it is sealed tightly. I used red silicon and let that fully cure to make sure it was not sucking unfiltered air
