Engine Idles at 1500 ~ 2000 RPM

Hi guys,
I have a Miata NA6 1992, tuned for turbo.
I have a problem with my engine at idle.
When it warms up, I can easily tune it in an open loop and the car can stay at 850 ~ 900 RPM steadily as I open and close the IAC valve.
But once the car is warmed up (say passing 71 C ~ 80 C) the rev. goes up to 1500 ~ 2000 RPM. It stabilizes at around 1500RPM if I give it the right spark advance and VE.
Strange that no matter how I adjust the VE & spark or the IAC duty cycle %, the car just do not rev. lower
I suspect there is a mechanical problem, instead of ECU tuning?
I have closed the idle screw all the way, I don't know if there's an air leak in the intake system, but it should make the car idle unstable and I should not get stable 850~900 RPM during warm-up?
