Here's my actual timing map on stock MK2 1.6 (european). Cannot hear any knock but i have to test further. I'm not sure but seems the engine doesn't feel particulary powerful in high revs and high load...is it for too much or too less timing? VE is good enough, expecially in WOT, to exclude any fuel-related issue. Base timing is properly set. Any advice? Thank you and sorry for my english
So for those that do not know about the 1.6 after 1994.
It is a long nose 1.6 like the later 1.6s before the 1.8 was introduced.
It is also 90bhp from the factory and not 116bhp like the pre-1.8 version.
I cannot comment on the map aside from it looking pretty.

I'm english.
I was unaware of anything other than 90bhp 1.6 that arrived with the 1.8 introduction here.
However according to Parkers guide they made several power changes:
95-98 90bhp
98-01 110bhp
01-05 108bhp
Interesting for me to see this as the last time I bothered looking was when i purchased mine in 2003.
I simply couldn't afford the new ones at that time so never looked and found the 110 version.
Again map looks pretty no idea if it is any good. When the US wakes you will get much better information.
Ok, more timing in cruise area, for better mileage and gas response. But what about WOT? Today i tried 31 degree from 5200 to 7200, and i'm quite sure that it knocks at 5200. Tomorrow i will try to listen it with the amplifier
You shouldn't be touching the timing map without it being strapped to a dyno. At the very least, you use Det cans to listen for knock while you make small adjustments. Not 10-15° adjustments...
I have amplified the oem knock sensor, which i listen with headphones. However, I made those big increases because I was advised to by a skilled person. The car runs much better. Still don't hearing any knock
You should be pretty even across the top. Like at redline/100kpa you looked good at 28*, but 21* at 4600 seems low, and that’s right where you typically are when driving on the street.

thank you, but now i have just switched to this entire new table:
It's lazy. It never does the dishes or takes out the trash unless you ask it multiple times.
It's hair is too long, it's room is a mess and it's table manners are atrocious.
