Could someone help me with my startup?
Hello all. 95 Miata, MS2PNP, stock injectors. I've been trying to get my startup tuned in but I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.. I can usually get it to start with no throttle but sometimes it takes a while or will be very stubborn. I've messed with the cranking PW to give it more or less fuel but my results always seem to be about the same. Just was wondering if someone could maybe look over my tune and one of the data logs I took while trying to start it. The car runs fine once it starts. Another issue I was having was starter kickback/stall. I just got home from work and decreased the PW at crank because I read that too much can cause that kickback issue. The last 2 starts in the log (one failed followed by a successful start) and tune included was taken after leaning it out. Again.. I'm kinda lost and I feel like my fuel settings at crank are really off...
Thanks for any help

Few questions:
-Any particular reason why:
1) Your CLT based rpm curve is so narrow by temp?
2) Your crank to run taper is set to 10 seconds?
3) Your Closed loop gain is 1500?
4) You're not using the initial value table?
5) Coolant based crank duty steps are such a narrow range of temps?
What base map are you using?
I'm not giving advice since I'm new to this. I'm just wondering what you changed and why you thought you should be changing it.
I would, however, recommend saving your map and then trying one of brain's basemaps.

2. Basemap setting/ never bothered to change it because it isn't causing issues. I'll change it later
3. It didn't seem to make a difference when I changed it and the PID settings give me a pretty stable idle
4. Basemap setting/ I've heard others have more luck with "last value" and I've not had any issues with it so I left it.
5. Couldn't really find any discussion on how to tune this. The basemap used that same curve but It was very low for my idle valve so I raised it.
I started with the DIYAutotune basemap which I will attach below. I'll take a look at Brain's basemap as well and compare it to what I currently have. Thanks

Oh wow... comparing brains basemap to mine now... so many things that came with the DIYAutotune Basemap that are wrong that I never bothered to check because I'm an idiot. ReqFuel is way off because my displacement and injector settings are wrong, this map is still using batch injection.. This is actually horrible. I want to try this basemap but there is a warning that says "They are specifically developed to work in conjunction with my specific documentation, so if you did not use the same inputs and outputs as outlined in my assembly documentation (e.g., using DIYAUTOTUNE's pinout), then these maps won't work out-of-the-box for you."
So am I able to use this basemap on my MS2PNP if I update the firmware? I feel like I just need to start over with the brain tune.. what a disaster
I thought I was doing OK with the way things were running but now I feel like an idiot..
Will now be taking volunteers for people to come to my house and punch me in the face.

If you're worried about the inputs/outputs being different, you could always copy his settings into your tune without messing with the outputs etc.
Save your current map before changing things though. I'd recommend reading all the little settings when you change things and googling things and reading the manual to see what everything does as you change it. Doing that has helped me understand things a bit better though I still don't claim to know much. I just know that brain's basemap on the MS3X he built me worked pretty damn well out of the box.

Speaking of Brain, when he wakes up and reads this he's probably gonna have a fit with me. I deserve it.
