about to order diypnp
just after a confirmation of the parts i need

The JimStim is not 100% necessary, and is actually difficult to use with the DIYPNP. If you create a custom harness, yes you could use it to test the DIYPNP, so there is potential diagnostic functionality there. But you'd actually have to make the harness; it won't just plug in.
The USB2920 cable is only about 2 feet long. You will want a tunecable if you don't already have one (standard DB9, non null modem) or you'll need a USB male to female to act as a "tune cable extension cord".
A 12V power supply is helpful for a quick bench test and firmware loading. There is a standard connector on the board for a 12V 1A power supply. You might have one around your house you can use, or we have one on the site for a few bucks.
Some people opt for the sequential add on. Up to you. It should idle a bit smoother with sequential, especially if you have big injectors.
That's about it.
