I have an MS2 diy I bought on the classifieds almost 2 years ago (!) and ive had a lot issue getting it installed because its not a standard build. It was running in the POs car with sequential injection and spark. The PO of the MS2 has been great at helping me with questions but I need a bit more.
I have finally gotten it ready to install in the car but Im having issues getting the correct base map. I have the POs tune files but his car was a 1.8 and mine is a 1.6 still currently on stock fuel and ignition. I have ls coils and rx7 injectors to install but I want to get it running decently on the stock stuff first. Every 1.6 base map I try says the signature files do not match. I have loaded the "stock base map" which is for wasted fuel/spark for a 1.8 engine. I've made a 12v bench power supply to run the unit on to get it set up. I want to make sure everything looks alright before I put it in the car and actually run it. Or if someone can find a compatible base map for my 1.6 that would probably be better but I havent been able to find the right one I think. Ill include my current tune and can show any other screen shots if needed. I will provide more info to the best of my ability (im sure i need to provide more info but I dont know what more info to actually include /embarrassed)
The car is a 1990 na6 and is pretty much all stock except for a tps and IAT sensor.
EDIT - Added screen of diyauto tune 1.6 base map error.
I see you had downloaded from Trubokitty. Set Req Fuel for your inj size. There are set-up instructions on MSEXTRA that are separate from the TS Lite instructions. Find them.
I thought I had changed req fuel. I know i changed eng displacement and injector size. I will double check that and the inputs after dinner.
Yea, I downloaded and tried about 4 or 5 different 1.6 maps and all of them had that signature error...
What other settings do I need to change that are different from 1.8 to 1.6? Every time I try to look it up all of the replies have been "just download a 1.6 base map".
First off, thank you for helping me. Everywhere I look while I'm researching for my random problems I usually come across a post you've made. It's you, and other members here like you, that made me become a site supporter. I know all this sounds lame but it's true.
Anywho, I was put in contact with the person who built the MS unit and he has helped me sort out the 1.8 to 1.6 changes and he is even going to remote in next week and help me sort out the idle. I'm hoping to have it all ready this weekend and hes doing his thing Wednesday afternoon.
My problem now is what do I do with the 10 gallons of bad fuel I'm going to drain out of it. It's been sitting for a year and I've never had to dispose of gas before. At least not in any significant quantity...
I switch back and forth from mobile to desktop browser just to leave cats lol.
One more question, more of a general MS question I think.
My MS2 is setup to run sequential fuel and spark. I'm going to be running wires through the dash today for that but I'm not going to use it just yet. Can I wire my make shift harness adapter to just use two outputs for batch or do I need to wire all four outputs for inj/spk in pairs of two?
Im draining the tank because of old fuel. I doing it via the fuel pump cause easy mode. It was my understanding that when I turn the key for power the pump would come on briefly to prime and then shut off. Then I could trigger it via MS using tunerstudio. When I turn the key full on (but not cranking) the pump run continually (ive already drained nearly 5 gal this way). is this "normal"? Im worried I have something wrong.
I have a 90' NA6 and have the MAF plug wired per trubrokitty direction minus the boost solenoid:
With the ecu disconnect the fuel pump runs with the key on. All the research I've done online just outlines how to make it run, not what to do if it does run constantly.
I'm hoping someone chimes in with an answer on this. Just another "potentially related" data point. I was (still am) having a similar issue with my 2000. After I installed my MS3, the fuel pump will run constant with the key in the run position. I didn't try with my ECU disconnected, but I zero'ed the prime pulse table as a bandaid and it stops the pump from running forever. This isn't an issue with the stock ECU.
The 1.6 NAs are a bit different. The pump isn't supposed to run at all until cranking (in stock configuration).
My problem now is with my AFM fuel pump jumper in the pump runs constant as soon as I turn the key to on. BUT if I turn the key on without the jumper and then make the jumper it works as its supposed to.
