Rochester ny (now with pics!)
Hey guys! Long time lurker, but I think I made a few posts in the past. I have two early 90s miatas
One a work in progress, shoved a late 70s vette engine in with all mounts/fab done by me. Have the drive shaft left to be made, but its all in and rolls. should be a fun ride.started with an old 4spd, but ended up with a th350 for the Trans, much easier to routea shifter cable than reposition a shifter hole in the tunnel
Daily its the one i came back here for, stock auto that I converted to a 5sp, hard top, flared, beefy wheels. Looks really cool, now I just have to give it some umph.
The V8 miata and the bike (R1) are the go fast toys, so the goal of the dd is under.8lbs boost/140-150HP, stock fuel system other than a regulator. Ill post the v8 stuff tomorrow, along with the current dd and its turbo progression as it comes along.

Haha, I have some friends up there, never heard of the garbage place. GF and I took them out to a local hole in the wall place here with $5 plates and they said it would be considered a 7-star restaurant in Rochester. They've completely given up on dining out. If the garbage plate is representative of a "point of interest", I can see why.
If you haven't already bought the fuel regulator for the turbo DD, I'd highly suggest saving your money and time and building a MS, you seem to have the DIY skills for it.

Picked it up with 90k, autotragic. Check out the chrome trim!
Threw some monster 16x8 0' with beefy tires
Found an OEM hardtop = teh sex
Decided that an auto miata wansnt going to fly, picked up a donor car
Wheeee!
Stealing the whole drivetrain (minus motor) including trans, pedals, driveshaft, master/slave cylinders, PF frame, some steering wheel parts and misc wiring components
Yankin stuff out
Everything removed ( you can see the auto off to the left)
Completed
]
Did some housekeeping, valvecover gasket, timing belt check, new coilpacks, etc
Cutting out rear fenders
Then fronts
And here we are as of today
and recent pic
(cover of a local motorcycle calender I put together for this year for a sportbike site I run)
aaaand some of the v8, which was intended to be a leisure project from the start, and doesnt has a specific completion date.
obligatory test fit =)
mounts being fabbed up
its a roller! Dont think the trans mount was done here just yet, so its leaning back
this will ultimately be the new front end support for the radiator/etc, and will bolt on to the car via existing holes at the end of the frame rails.
Pretty sure thats where I left off, dont have any other recent pics. Tunnel was blown out and from what i've seen, this motor sits lower and father back than any other swap i've come across. Pretty neat

It was my original intent, actually, but part of the build is to be able to "set it and forget it" without investing much time in installation, primarily because this is my DD, I'd have a short weekend to set up.
Buuuut then again, when nicer weather approaches, I do have the motorcycle, I just dont want to wait that long to get started. I'll have to get the regulator for now and sell it for the MS when I'm able to account for the possibility of the car being off the road for more than a weekend. Additionally, the injectors/pump are staying stock for now and wont be running an intercooler.
When those are upgraded and I turn up the boost, I'll grab the MS.

Then there are tooons of copycat places, some are actually really good. "Wimpys" in gates and "Jimmy Z's" in brockport rank among my favorites. Henrietta Hots at the bottom of my list ( the bottom of the plate is always a swamp of water, I think from the thawed mac salad)
It's always great when visitors come up to Rochester, gives me an excuse to go (as if I really need one)

turbo manifold/downpipe = ordered! Already have the TD05 at the shop, I intended to get this done last September, but I got a little sidetracked =)
now to track down the fpr. I know I'll ultimately end up with begi's.... but dare i ask if there are comparable alternatives that others here have tried?
