Hey guys. Just started lurking and I decided to jump in on the fun. Bought a 2001 Base w/manual in February. Its being used as an autox/track day car for now. Yet I can't help but drive it most days to work. I also drive a 2016 Ford Fiesta ST.

I travel to Jax, Dixie, and CFR for autocross and I'm getting into HPDE's. Signed up for a TE w/CFR on the Sebring club course July 21st.

Welcome to the addiction.

I'm in Jax, and do autox at emilia island with scca. Although haven't been there lately.

have you checked out track days at the FIRM? They host open track almost every weekend. If you like lots of track time, this is the place. I usually burn 2 full tanks of gas per day there. Basically open track, drive as much as you want for the day.

I also did Daytona with NASA a few months ago, pretty cool track.

have you upgraded wheels/tires/suspension/roll bar? Any turbo plans?

I'm actually the current Solo Chair for Jax.. so yeah, I know about Amelia

Been to the firm once for a track day. Was way too hard on the brakes of my fiesta. I plan on going back though since it's so close.

Currently, I have Koni yellows and a roll bar. And I just finished installing a torsen diff since mine had an open. That's it beside good brake pads.

Welcome to the forum. There's a few of us Florida track guys here on the forum.

I never have understood why the scca likes to do the little course at Sebring so much. Do they get a discount for only using half the track?

Unless something has changed, the full course is kinda rough. Used to rattle our teeth in the FVs.

Welcome to the forum, OP. Im out in St Augustine. Ive mostly been running with the Corvette club out of convenience, but Id like to attend some SCCA events again.

Also, We really need to get a bunch of people out at the FIRM together. Two of my coworkers (MS3 and Turbo NA1) both want to go out there soon.

Im down to do the firm, i have 2 prepaid track days from their black friday sale burning a hole in my pocket.

When does the Corvette club run? i wanted to attend their autox for a while now, but i could not figure out where to find the schedule/registration web page.
Their website looks like its from 1985

I'm doing gridlife south in august, so Sebring is a learning experience and shakedown to make sure I don't break anything obvious.

I'd love to coordinate a FIRM day! And anyone wanting to do autocross near Jax, join our FB group (SCCA Jax Solo). We usually post when other clubs are running and where to help get our guys more seat time.

Their website does suck. But here is the link:

They usually run at this police/fire training "track" near St Augustine. Its almost like a kart track but with a crest in the middle. Pretty weird IMO.

I don't do any track days in the summer. Too damn hot for the fire suit. I usually go out in October through March or maybe April. Sebring usually has some October/November dates with NASA or Performance Driving Group, and there's usually Daytona around that time as well. I also really enjoy Homestead Miami Speedway.

I've not been to the Firm but it looks like a bunch of narrow streets with very squared off corners rather than a wide track with sweeping turns. It also has little runoff room in a few key spots judging by the aerial photos. I might be inclined to come check it out.

PBIR has a ton of track dates and I have never been there, either. In addition to the other clubs, Hooked on Driving, Performance Driving Experience, Just Track It, Jzilla, and Rezoom all do Florida and Georgia events that aren't too far for a weekend. I forgot to mention Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah. Much more fun than it looks from the track map and not too far.

Welcome to the forum, some great tracks near you.

I never understood why SCCA runs the Sebring short course? Cold be cost or Formula cars not doing well on the 12 hour track due to bumps or speeds?

Turn 17 at Sebring "while a bit bumpy" is one of the most iconic corners anywhere.

Ok so it has a ski jump before the bridge.
