Whats up? I live in sarasota, Fl and swore I would never own a miata. Well i'm eating my words. I have an 06 sti and I like driving the miata or as I call it Man ata. Its a 99 tripple black 6spd, black kosei 16x8.5 wheels ( black to ) .
I work at the Fire Dept. and am getting a lot of jokes about my car. They just don't understand. LOL

Welcome.
I've never been in an STI before. Obviously it is a quick car. I just don't understand preferring a slow-assed naturally aspirated Miata after driving something fast, at least on the street. 18PSI did the same thing. What is the appeal?
I have only known the feel of a slow non-turbo Miata for the past 10 years, so I chalked it up to ignorance is bliss.

My best friend had a stage 3 400+ awhp B5 s4 and bought a miata as a summer beater for 1000 dollars because he has always wanted one since his dad got rid of his when he was in HS.
He said he had more fun in that bone stock 1.6 then he ever did in his audi. He drove it every day and regrets selling it so much!
I can understand it. Welcome.

I can't understand being happy with a stock-ish power miata. I hate driving my car boostless during turbo builds. Horrible. Dangerously slow. Only thing cool is being able to keep it WOT around turns, but it sounds like a slowass honda.
Welcome to the community, lost of great info here. There's a new forum for v8miatas too.

An STi just doesn't have the tossability and RAWNESS of a miata. Its like a strong knife while the miata is like a tiny but ridiculously sharp scalpel. You feel way more connected and one with the car in the miata.
That said I'll probably be getting another subaru after this car./threadjack
OP welcome
Got any pics of said cars?

Welcome.
Tends to be that most who have had a Miata in the family at one point always end up coming back. Happened to me too.
I've never driven a Suby either and can't compare...but I know when I'm in the Miata I'm 100% sure that this is what driving is supposed to feel like.
Planning a turbo build to shut your buddies up?
All of my MustangGT/G35/SRT-4/WRX buddies have STFU now that I'm pretty well done with upgrades. 200+whp does a lot in a Miata....but the real fun comes when you find you have power to match the handling on your favorite curvies.
Any idea what direction you're going, what your goals are?
I highly recommend real engine management with headroom, but this can depend on your goals. Either way...MegaSquirt is the way to go, and you'll find great support here for that tuning platform.

I just deleted a bunch of your useless one word posts, and replies with just question marks.
Welcome to the forum, if you want to stay play by the rules.

Welcome. Even though I didn't have an STI, I had an 04 WRX that I bought new, kept for about 60K miles and sold. It was a solid car, never a problem or repair of any kind. I do like driving the Miata, though. I was turboed on one of my 99's for a bit under a year, returned it to stock, parked it for the winter to sell in spring and building a V8 Miata now. It seems to be a common theme.
I'll have another subie sometime soon. Thinking LGT next time, though for a road car. I travel a lot for work.

STI's are nice cars. But I love underpowered, underrated, underdog cars which can also be turned into nice sleepers. Too many times the dudes driving the v6's and v8s (and of course a few of VTEC fanboys) ridicule our "chick car" until they jump in a well tuned and well boosted Miata... usually shuts them up. I'm sure others can vouche for that. I say, "Yeah its a chick car... girls can't stop looking or asking for a ride."
