New Kid from FL
Hey everyone, my name is Shane and I'm 16. I'm new to the forum and somewhat new to Miata's. I currently own a '75 Datsun 280z that I am in the process of restoring. This is my second car, my first car was a '71 Datsun 240z that I got when I was 14 but it was more than I could handle, so I sold it and bought my current 280z. Anyway, I got into Miata's when I started hanging out with my friend that has a NB. We always drove it around and I occasionally would drive it, and I fell in love instantly. Then we went AutoXing and I got to ride along, that experience gave me a whole new outlook on Miata's. I was surprised at how it handled and how well it performed. That just put the icing on the cake.
So now I'm going to go pick up a NA this weekend. It's been sitting for a while but is insanely clean. The interior is immaculate for a car that has 148k on it. I'm planning on preparing it for the $2011 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. I have 2 other friends that are helping me and we are all Juniors in high school. The plan is to do a turbo'd 1.8L swap, some suspension, wheels, and get rid of as much weight as possible. I will post up some pics of the car once I get it and I'll most likely start a build thread. So until then, so long and thanks for welcoming me to the forums.
This is my 280z when I first got it.
And how she looks now

Thanks you guys I did the motor swap in it 2 summers ago so I was 15. I did it on Jackstands, outside of my dad's shop (where he has a lift :( ) in one day with the help of my little brother. In a day we pulled the old motor and put the current motor in. Mind you that I was 15 and my little bro was 12.
