New Guy, names joe im 6'4 don't fit in the car well. i live in Beaverton Oregon. Built a few cars here and there an just picked up driftmissile or whatever his name was band aided turbo '90 miata(traded him a stock 5.0 mustang with bald tires)
First day
Limped car home like an absolute baby, find turbo is held on with two of the four Nuts and one stud had fallen completely out.. begin further investigation And research as I've mainly owned corollas and 240s which probably tells you more of my background but not really up to Snuff on my miata knowledge :(
Car has like 203.xxxmiles on it
Framerails suck
real nardi wheel, bride Rep seat
Windows ziptied up on tracks
Missing almost all of interior(clean uncracked dash though lol)
Afm looked weird, check and it's a opened up n/a s4 rx7 box
tan 1.8 injectors
vortec fpr thingy(i know them as deathboxes)
To top it off, it's a shortnose crank!! Yayyyyy. Shoot me. Gonna check and see if its a stock clutch too which Id bet it is
Only plans for now are letting it sit, getting a wideband and megasquirt DIY off egay and going from there as i learn the ways of the tiny car
Bring the hate

Welcome Joe. Your plans sound like a good way to move forward. Personally I would also replace the injectors and remove the rising rate fuel regulator, then get the thing tuned ASAP.
EV14 injectors are the best (ID725, etc) but RX-8 injectors might be "good enough":
http://949racing.com/Denso-195500-4450-injectors.aspx
They are the same technology as the standard NB injectors.
Good luck with the build!

Had i not seen it run NA(he came to our local track near stock) i probably wouldn't have picked it up.. but honestly after the comp test once it was home i haven't looked back yet! It really is a pos but i have little to no care about that
First thing was first- remove sticker infestation
Spent a solid Day on Body work since its getting some sitting time.. figured **** it and painted it too
-New plans as well(feel free to chime in)-
Wire in some spare resistors and fc injectors since i have them
Walboro pump + whatever regulator i find
ROLLBAR, can't afford namebrand so DIY with DOM tubing from our shop
Diypnp MS(already ensuing)
Grab a lower mile 1.8 bottom- worst case atleast a lower miles long nose 1.6
Was going inno. Lc1 for wideband but will probably go aem from egay
DYNO/Tune
An yes, the car will still be a pos... no i don't care! 0 ***** given on this one

get MS 1st and foremost. then do injectors.
no need for fancy fpr, the stocker will do.
don't just get bottom end, pick up a whole 1.8. definitely don't get another 1.6
either of those wb's will work
go form there.

Welcome! Good luck with the restoration...or whatever you wanna call it.
PM if you'd like some help with the MS, I've installed my own and just installed a friend's with his greddy setup.
You've made some big steps already, keep it up.
And like 18psi said, stick with the stock fuel pump and FPR, it's all you'll need with a MS. The injectors do all the work.

You're not really getting the hazing because you're on the right track.
Seems like you're moving in the right direction towards a good-running POS which seems to be the point and I'm cool with that.
Welcome.
